Well, when you become a college student, the after dinner snack will be beer. :)

I'm already a college student. :p

I'm just asking because I feel I've been eating junk when I'm hungry after dinner and I don't want to gain that weight back so I'm trying to find healthier options.

Yogurt with granola.

Its yummy, sweet and heatly...or you can freeze the yogurt for an ice cream likeness

EDIT: it was brought to my attention that we are supposed to say unhealthy things and i some how ruined this thread by saying heathly stuff... my new answer is Wiskey Sours and pork rinds (there happy now SOG?)

Thanks Chica! I haven't made homemade granola in a while so I should do that. That stuff is soooooo good.

Note: Low-fat cinnamon graham crackers are good.

And for y'all thanks for the "healthy" choices. I'll save your ideas and whenever I'm drunk out of my mind I'll get some ideas from there. ;)

I'll tell you what not to eat: Nacho Cheese Baked Doritos. I really like the baked Lays, but those baked Doritos are atrocious. There isn't even any zing to them. It's like pieces of a toasted shoebox with powdered cheddar.

The baked Cheetos aren't bad. Not quite cardboard, but not quite the real thing.

Have you tried cereal? Cereal with no milk is usually a pretty good snack for me.

The balance of the weight comes from 25 slices of cheese, a head of lettuce, three tomatoes, two onions, plus copious quantities of mayo, ketchup, relish, mustard, and peppers.

Any two people who can eat it within a three-hour sitting get it for free. For everyone else, it costs $30.

Here are a couple of interesting stats to summarize the experience:

# Total calories (extrapolating from info provided here): 19490 calories
# Total eaters 8 (2 girls and one guy who already ate dinner and only ate 6 patties)
# Most patties eaten by one person : I think I ate about 20. I think Nalin ate about 20 as well (including the raw ones)
# Time to finish : less then 2 hours
# Number of people who barfed : 1 (way to go Elena!) Oh yeah.... nothing says "Vegas baby" like barfing, not because of booze..but because of burgers.

If you're into ice cream try the Skinny Cow brand desserts, the ice cream sandwiches are excellent. Recommended by Weight Watchers dieters (only 2 points).

Popcorn is a good one. Skip the microwave stuff, even if it is "lite." Make it on the stove with a small amount of olive or canola oil and add little or no salt. You can also add different seasonings for a little variety or to give it some zing. :thumbup:

Those are currently my favorite snacks! Almonds in particular are good for you. No butter or salt on the popcorn.

One thing that's been touted as a "healthy snack" is rice cakes. I tried them; it's like eating styrofoam!

I didn't know we had Skylines up here until I saw that one off 480 over the summer and decided to try it. I think it tasted like a crushed up cinammon Pop Tart on top of spaghetti noodles more than it did like chili. Just awful.

Does anyone else have Moe's where they are? Pretty good tacos and stuff for reasonable prices. Way better than Taco Hell, and even better than the local Mighty Taco (which is pretty good unto itself).

Yeah, Moe's is all over the place down here. I much prefer them to Chipotle, Baja Fresh and Qdoba when I need a burrito fix.

I think the first joint opened in socal but an aggy bought it and then opened one in college station then austin then state-wide. Think they close at midnight though :(

They just need to open an In-n-Out here... but without letting that "Lynsi" chick win the family lawsuit...

Not a big Skyline fan as Empress is more to my taste if Cincitucky Greek chili is the plan. If it's gotta be Skyline the chili cheese sandwich is the best for alcohol fueled late night visits to my taste.

As for as White Castle goes, like the concept but I got ruined by the fact that we had a local joint where I grew up that took that concept to a higher level. It's the Hunter House at 15 mile & Woodward Ave. just North of Detroit. Think sliders with quality ingredients and real shredded onions instead of onion powder. It opened back in the 50's and was still there the last time I was in town. Give me a 3 on 1 w/ cheese and some of the best fries anywhere. :thumbup: Used to always hit the Hunter House when in town for the Champ Car, F1 race or trade shows even though I always stay in Windsor.

On topic: Popcorn is the best answer Nicole. Satisfying and low cal. Makes you want to watch a good movie... :gomer:

I spent a good amount of time at Freebirds in College Station, and at the Cabana. It was okay, but nothing like the stuff you can get from a hole-in-the-wall Mexican place or Roach-Coach out here in CA.

this is true, nothing beats a little taqueria :) My neighborhood is just a few miles down the road from a perdominantly hispanic area, taquerias galore :D There's also a couple of great restaurants: a fantastic & inexpensive mex-mex place and a Yucatan style seafood place. Red snapper, mmmm. Also there's the walk-up El Taco Loco serving muchos tacos al pastor to los borrachos long past last call :D

Agreed, Cabana is good reliable regional chain TexMex but the little local places are where it's really going on. Still, it's miles better than what's available in a lot of places.

BTW, isn't it almost time for the annual barbecue & grilling thread...?

I would just like to say that as of the past year or two, TC has gone to complete and utter s***. Seriously, it used to be glorious, now it's craptastic. Not quite Taco Hell crap, but close.

This is what happens when you sell your company to some New York firm :saywhat: :irked: A shame b/c you can't beat that fresh condiment/salsa/toppings bar...

In other news, the 10-yr non-compete agreement the TC guy who founded Taco Bueno signed is set to expire this winter, thusly Taco Bueno's crack-laced hot sauce will be served all over Texas in the next year instead of just DFW :D
