View Full Version : ALMS question
Can someone give me a short explaination of the scoring lights on the cars? The program I picked up at the track explains the different colors signify which class they are in but doesn't explain what it means when the 1 to 3 lights are on.

1 light: first place in class... two lights: second place in class, etc...

If its a really big light, that's dale Jr torching a car......
1 light: first place in class... two lights: second place in class, etc...
Thanks. I thought that might be it but that didn't seem to be the case during practice and qualifying. For instance I would see two cars in a row go by with one yellow light on.

That could happen if the second car in line just set a faster time (in practice or qualifying the lights are used for time position vs track position as in the race) when crossing the timing line. Example #2 Audi crosses the line at 1:05.8 stting fast lap. The #16 Lola comes by and set a 1:04.6 (new fast lap). The Audi won't reset its indicator light until next time by start finish.
Makes sense, thanks BobN

Go stand really close to the B-K Mazda. It's pretty quiet.

The Penskes were flying. Ron Fellows should win his class. He qualified 6th overall. With any luck he might win the whole thing.

If the track is as bad as some of the drivers say, I wouldn't rule it out at all. Throw in the potential for street-race carnage and who knows what could happen.
