Indy Racing League driver P.J. Chesson took a lap in the passenger seat today at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Rather than a racecar that he'd guide at 220 miles an hour, Chesson was riding in an F-16D fighter jet that can do more than 1,300 mph.
Chesson, an IRL rookie, enjoyed the view as Maj. Rob Myer of the 18st Fighter Wing of the Indiana Air National Guard, did the driving.
They took off this morning from Hulman Field in Terre Haute, took a pass over the closed track and returned to base.
Military aviators are given call signs. Think of "Maverick" in "Top Gun." Chesson was dubbed with a call sign any racer would cherish. Call him "Sizzle."
Chesson? Sizzle?
Sumbuddy forgot to tell the writer that "Sizzle" hasn't been over 213 all month.
:gomer:
