Engine sound pr0n...

Headphones at high volume recommended...
probably my favorite engine sound pr0n

the barking dog add a certain organic counterpoint to this.... then all hell breaks loose
Great sound. Mazda recently filed a new rotory engine patent so maybe there's hope that it won't become extinct.
Good ol' Johnny Herbert! His 20th anniversary (2011) video celebrating Mazda's '91 LeMans victory is FANTASTIC! The crew cheering as the car takes to the track...the in-car video and SOUND are unequaled! Beautiful clip...MAYbe longer than some would like here?...but check it out if you want to relive a part of LeMans '91...or perhaps some nice person will put it HERE! The 5:40 version..."Johnny Herbert Reunited With the Screaming Mazda 787B"...the best of the lot!

sure would be nice if the announcers, instead of waxing poetic about the beautiful sound the engine makes, would actually STFU so you could hear it...

One for the music nerds:
It's pretty well known that the tune to Joy to the World as credited to Lowell is basically bits of Handel's Messiah cobbled together. But what would it sound like if the great man himself had written it? John Rutter had a go:

About 4 or 5 years ago I had dinner at the Montgomery Inn in Dublin. There was only one other table with diners and it was adjacent to us. I told my coworker that if didn't know better I'd think we were dining with Eric Clapton tonight. But nothing made sense. Dublin? He was with two other men about his age and on the other side of the table were 3 young girls. The oldest probably wasn't even a teenager. None of it made sense. He came close to where I was seated when he left. Hearing him speak I was sure it was him but even more bewildered. After they left the waiter asked if we knew who he seated us by. Obviously gaming us for a fat tip. When I asked why was he here I was told that he lives nearby and is in all the time. Those girls were his daughters. Fat tip was provided.

His place is (or was) just about a mile from there. Corner of Dublin Road and Hayden Run Road (Hayden Run Falls is a nice hiking area, BTW). His place is right on the NW corner of the intersection with some horse statues. No idea why he built there. It's a nice area, but not the bestest location. Sadly, the Inn closed a month ago. :\ That was a troubled strip center from the get go. :saywhat: I think I heard that he met his wife here abouts. We have Jason Day and Jim Furyk (golfers) living here, as well as few thousand 'former' Buckeyes. :)
I also have to give a shout out to Boston after Sid passing away. That makes three of the original members of the band gone. Somewhere around here I have a Boston belt buckle. :)

The story I was told by the waiter was that he had a concert in Columbus years ago and met his now wife. She worked for the promoter. He began dating her for a year with no one being aware. They married one year after meeting. I think she was from Delaware. That area reminded him of where he grew up in England. Hence, why they built there. He wanted a normal environment to raise his family. But I read where he has houses in London and maybe something in the Caribbean. And why not?
It was a mind-blowing experience to be sitting adjacent to the only 3 time inductee to the RRHOF who seemed as common as anyone you'd see in a rib place. It was a very fine rib place, but certainly not a high end establishment.
