So, Thursday practice is labeled an "open test", thereby eliminating any chance comparison of attendance numbers with a certain "three day festival of speed" running a bit further north.

The best, though, was the League's Marketing VP:

"We were shooting at too broad a fan base. We see IndyCar fans as NASCAR fans. We target to motor sports fans. "

Apparently a graduate of the Anton George School of Public Speakery.

Foyt Enterprises team changed the engine and multiple other components after a plume of smoke was visible after eight laps."
