Here's something I've never attempted before, and something I'd never attempt with an open wheel car...getting my own in-car footage at speed. The eager test subject is DP and sometime Champ Car driver Michael McDowell.
With a fair amount of trial and error, we shot this at the end of the 2-day test in May. The intent was to get this up and running before this past race weekend, but it didn't quite happen in time.
The mount used is the "dash mount" manufactured by Sticky Pod - the first time I've used this on any vehicle. The suction cups worked just great on the bare steel...and not surprisingly, not so great on carbon fiber.
Next time I'll have to try 1) an even wider angle lens from this location and 2) mounting the cam on the bulkhead to driver's right, pointing at the windscreen.
