It wasn't that exiting, sure, there was sparks flying from skidplates and huge turbo fires and World Champion drivers with personalities like Keke and Nelson and Niki and wild goattracks of race circuits that were a real test of driving skill and hadn't been been tilked to death and no traction control and .... and .... and ........ Yeah, your right, todays races are tame in comparision. :gomer: :)

The turbo era certainly did it for me. The cars, the drivers, the tracks... I also just liked the fact that a tiny little 1.5L four or six could be a complete beast and put out over well over 1000hp in qualifying trim.

It was the beginning of the in car video coverage as well, which really stepped up TV coverage IMO.
