Reading where Holly Hills and ChampCar have signed a multi-year agreement to race in San Antonio, as early as '07. Chris Pook is backing it not Heitzler. With losing perhaps Milwaukee, Montreal and Monterrey CC will need at least 3 new events won't they? Las Vegas? Phoenix? China? Hope the new sched shows at least 15 rather than TBAs.

Interesting, wasn't the IRL chasing after SA also?

The IRL sniffed after San Antonio when A1GP dropped the ball. CCWS interest went up after Forsythe's comments about the future of Funidora Park.

Ohhh, ok. For some reason I thought AGR was involved.

What was that?

All about lack of local $$ to promote, sponsorships etc.

He said it wasn't looking good for it to return. Attendance was getting smaller, sponsorship was going away. Locals seemed less interested.

Sorry...didn't mean to answer for you, but the point is CC can't succeed anywhere without the strong and direct participation (read contribution/investment) of local government and business. Just think of Edmonton, Denver, San Jose and Houston. San Antonio? Phoenix? It wasn't happening in Monterrey. There it seems to have been a "what can you do for us?" situation.

AGR was involved.

What was announced was that the City has to open up the process to all 'qualified' parties about the race, they can't just do the deal direct with Holly Hills.

The announcment today is that Holly Hills and CC have teamed up to bid on the grand prix. The process would still be open to other groups bidding as well.
