That's not what I saw on the toob Sat. The Shorthornies fans were leaving in droves well b4 the end of the game....I even mentioned that during the 4th Q. *shrug* I was going to say the same thing, but I deleted the sheeelackin from the TiVo so I couldn't go back and verify.

Secondly, I was @ the game last season for ~ 10 hours before and after...I never witnessed one moron The OSU fan taunting one UT fan. Not that it dint happen, but it was the exception and not the rule. Every campus has an exception. Gee, dint Ank slug you?

your own police advise people not to travel in groups of less than 10. your cops roll in riot gear! bloody riot gear!! the people I kept buying drinks for Friday night repeatedly apologized for their own behavior owning up to what was going on. "It's no big deal, things happen, you're drunking." "No man, our entire group were massive pricks from the second we woke up sober." And sat at our tailgate Buckeyes are wondering why the cops aren't shutting down everyone walking around with cans of beer in their hands (and the F-18 pilots are wondering why we're feeding the Buckeyes  ). Meanwhile in C-bus open containers are no longer kosher.

your own president owned up to it and issued an official apology and started a "sportsmanship council" or something.

Ivan Maisel's podcast from monday, he's wondering aloud why the Big 10 has such a problem that the other conferences don't seem to have for whatever reason.

I never witnessed one moron The OSU fan taunting one UT fan.

bull ****, you were too busy searching for your friend after the game to notice the hordes lining the street, remember that bar I went to afterwards, Miani's? owners' nephew's escorting us back there and the entire way telling us to keep our heads down unless we want to be jumped.

at least 3 different groups of people jumped in jer's and my way before we even stepped foot off campus. I couldn't even cheer our own band leaving the stadium b/c a group of old people shut me down, they didn't want to be assaulted with beer cans as they had been on their walk to the stadium.

meanwhile, the only people I cursed out were my own friends on my phone who were giving me grief. Every visiting Buckeye was meanwhile thanked for visiting and offered cold victory beer in pre-opened form. In C-bus the beer comes in projectile form.

35 couches, a dumpster, and 2 cars on fire says it all... Like I said, c-bus was a damned good time other than gameday, especially the lady running Mac's and the random folks I crossed paths with on Thurs & Fri, and on gameday it was still alright b/c I ignored everyone, but the only friendly mixing spot I ever came across was at the Varsity Club. That's the only place I saw a heavy mix of folks being friendly. Do not bring that "I never saw one instance" bull, it was everywhere to be seen but you just didn't want to notice...

Also, as I said the day after the game, travelling Bucks were quality folks and I had a great weekend with them...

It is with extreme jealousy and admiration that I write this right now, as the Texans have completely out-classed us in every aspect possible. My friends were simply blown away the entire time, and it would have been impossible for me NOT to have shown them a good time.
We were awful hosts last year, and you could easily have slung it right back. But instead, you took high road and killed us with kindness. Thank you thank you thank you thank you

Papa Bowden talk footbaw: http://floridastate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=581775

I don’t like offensive football the way it is nowadays. Offensive football today is a game of formations. When I used to work the offense, you lined up in one formation and you played that way the whole game. You could tell every thing the other team was doing. If they did this, you go there. If they did this, you go here. If they do this, you do that. But now it’s ‘put this formation in and they do this. Put this formation in and they do that.’ Try to always get some kind of a mismatch. But that’s the way the pros play it. Colleges are the same way.

 Joey Porter must've played under Bowden in another life...

More trouble for Reggiepoo: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news;_ylt=AqmbSYRjdsJK50wobU.p9zg5nYcB?slug=ys-bushprobe&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

An eight-month Yahoo! Sports investigation has revealed that Heisman Trophy-winning running back Reggie Bush and his family appear to have accepted financial benefits worth more than $100,000 from marketing agents while Bush was playing at the University of Southern California.

one of the sidebar articles from the yahoo page, hanging w/ convicts, smooth:

With Ornstein it is worse. It's not just that Ornstein is a convict who in 1995 pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud for defrauding the NFL and that Ornstein, in possible violation of NCAA statutes, admits he negotiated contracts for Bush during the 2005 season or that the credit card of an Ornstein employee was used to pay for flights and limo rides to the San Francisco Ritz-Carlton for Bush's family during the weekend of the USC-Cal game.

It's that Ornstein didn't operate in the shadows to offer USC a convenient "How could we know?" excuse.

Ornstein was so up front he even worked with the USC compliance office in May of 2005 to set up a paid internship at his company for Bush and other Trojan players.

"We went through SC, went through the compliance office," Ornstein said. "We are allowed to pay the guy for 20 hours a week, $8 an hour. All of the paperwork is filed. It was just something we wanted to do to help Pete Carroll because they always are looking for summer jobs."

Just got home from the Toledo/Kansas game...

Wow! What a game. Toledo gets behind early, then takes the lead just before the half with a 40-yard touchdown pass to RS freshman Stephen Williams (from Houston) in double coverage on a 4th-and-15. Kansas retakes the lead before the Rockets come storming back again with a 1-yard TD run on a 4th-and-goal and an 85-yard interception return by true freshman Barry Church.

In the first OT, Toledo got the ball first and failed to score. But Kansas fumbled the ball on its first play. The Jayhawks got the ball first in the second OT and got it to the 10-yard line before Bo Martin picked off Kerry Meier's pass in the end zone. On Toledo's first play, Jalen Parmele scampered around the right end of the line for a 25-yard game-winning TD. w00t!!! :D

The Mangina loses again, too bad :gomer: bigXII north getting taken to the woodshed this weekend. hooray suck! hooray beer!

I suppose that is possible, but I still think it is unlikely based on the facts presented.
regarding the Bush business ^^^

Ornstein has admitted to negotiating marketing deals on Bush's behalf prior to Bush's leaving the program. Antonio Langham signed a paper napkin for an agent while drunk in NOLA after the 92 Sugar Bowl and cost 'bama the '93 season & 26 schollies over 3 years. Hell, wasn't there a UCLA player pwn3d because he took a bag of ****ing groceries from an agent? :shakehead U dub was taken to the woodshed back in the 90s b/c a QB had a loan arranged for a car, no? USC & UCLA ensured they were reamed afterwards and UW forfeited all bowl money and almost broke that program with the sanctions. But that was before they changed the rules where the program has to just say "we were looking out, no really, we were"...

Ornstein has admitted to "loaning" the family money. Those are also illegal according to NCAA rules. Bush's signature is at the Venitian on Michaels's credit card with Michaels' written authorization for Bush to use said CC. That is another obvious violation.

The rent-free house? Again...

Bush's car supposedly purchased by Michaels?...

And there's the accusation that a coach on staff, McNair, knew of the arrangements as well.

What kind of compliance staff lets a player "intern" for an agent, let alone an ex-con. :saywhat: And what are agents doing in the locker room or at practice? (if true)

If just what Ornstein has admitted is true then Bush commited violations. If Yahoo! Sports' paper trail is true, Bush committed violations. The conference will have to at least vacate the records of games played when NCAA declares him ineligible. UW, UCLA, Oregon, Cal & ASU will push for Pac-10 more severe sanctions. If the worst of it is true, coach knowing & agents running around, & the NCAA has any balls(hah), "lack of institutional control" and tv & bowl ban. BCS & AP would have to do their own thing for vacating the '04 title.

I wonder what the IRS thinks about all this...

I'm hardly 'obsessed' by the Big 10+1. You call me a homer, but I do call 'em like I see 'em, f00. The Big 10+1 is about average this season. Only UM and The OSU have proven anything this season. ahahahah. well obviously, such heart and dedication will displace that horrible team from Ohio that gave them a thrashing in last years bowl. Brady Quinn is from Ohio, and obviously, if he is from Ohio, there is NO talent left in ANY position that should have any team playing in Ohio above him..........and him alone, not just a team, just he and his pure talent. Ok, lets do this. Lets just say Gay Goters or Go Gators or whatever you want. But please, I know Timmy, I'm good friends with his bro, and I wish I was in gville watching the games, but please, God please, don't be a 'smart' Gator fan.

I have told Peter on multiple occasions that he better not let his bro get too confident. Gator fans, and gator media are notorious for overhyping, and then when 1 mistake is made, for killing that person and destroying them. I fear for Tim, I was at Game 1, and when he came on the field the crowd went nutz, but it just isn't normal. Leak is better, and while Teeb may be the future, we would NOT have won last night without Leak.

Everyone just cheer for the Gators, or whomever you want, but please, cheering for 1 person, and placing them on a pedistal is asking for them to be knocked off. And knowing how UF media works, it could be a sad situation.

He'll be great, he works hard, and breathes football. But he needs to also put his accomplishments in perspective to Leak. Leak was as highly touted as Timmy when he came out of high school. And Timmy could be forgotten just as easily. Gator fans, by and large, can be almost as bad as fair weather miami fans. Let's as a fan base strive to live in the present and not put too much emphasis on what could be in 2 years time.

Just my opinion.

skaven
09-17-06, 08:43 PM
Agreed FG...

I'm not clamoring for Leak to be benched in favor of Tebow, but I'm excited about the future. I think UF will have a good year and Leak played a good game against the "let's go kill some spics/ Volunteers". That slide on 3rd down was a little weak, but we need Leak this year for sure.

With road trips against Auburn and FSU yet on the schedule, plus Cartman's UGA in Jax, plus LSU, Alabama and Spurrier at home, I don't see them running the table to get to the big game this year.

But I think Tebow has the talent to do something special in the Urban Legend scheme and yesterday was the first I had seen him on the field. Plus, him and Brandon James come from my home county.

More props to Leak.

The fact that Notre Dame has every advantage in the world and still doesn't capitalize on it, should be embarassing to every domer gomer worldwide.

Private TV contract. Guaranteed bowl. No conference to worry about. Every Catholic liking them because they believe the team is a sanctity of Catholicism. When they do go to a bowl, unlike most schools in a conference that have to split the earnings in half the domers get to keep all the money, and are granted more by NBC. All of that and they haven't won a national championship since 1988:shakehead

They should be forced into a conference, they should stop getting free recruiting with non-stop b.s. coverage, and the media needs to understand that they do suck. As much as everyone wants to believe they don't, they are not good. Charlie Weiss is a d-bag, that has been well noted.

We'll see how he does with his talent, after all of the recruiting advantages they get, we'll see how he can shape the squad.

Bottom line, they are like Texas, Florida and any California school. Every advatage in the world, and for years, they have NOTHING to show for it.

oh and I'm Catholic, and the belief that Notre Dame is a holy football team representing Catholics is a shame. Go check the actual religions of the players, they're no more Catholic than southern baptist.

 to Notre Dame, and their domer gomers.

Tulane has won as many national championships as Notre Dame since 1988. ZERO. And yet Tulane gets no media coverage, and doesn't have any advantages. Amazing how pathetic ND is when you really look at the facts.

Who? A weak Michigan and USC?

Here is the bad list of teams they play this year
Air Force
Army
Navy
Stanford
Purdue
North Carolina
UCLA

The only hard game should be USC on the road in Compton. They play the 3 armed forces. ALL 3, and all 3 suck, big time. And they even got Michigan at home, infront of the marshmellow fight and Touchdown Jeebus.

Come join the SEC and take UF's schedule this year:
Tennessee on the road
Alabama
LSU
Auburn on the road
Georgia in Jacksonville for the Cocktail Party:thumbup:
Florida State on the road

Notre Dame plays USC, already played overrated Penn State and won, and just lost to a weak Michigan. I'm not impressed with the schedule they have at all. All that talk of a hard one is more fodder by ESPeN and the producers that choose to pump ND this year instead of USC.

obviously all of this in my opinion. ymmv, however, I think most who follow on this site and my buckeye sites, and most football sites would agree.

Maybe when some of the "SEC powerhouses" cross the mason-dixson line to play a road game the press will take them seriously.

Auburn came out to LA and lost, and USC went down to Auburn and won. USC in the past went down to Alabama and won. Swept Arkansas for the past 2 years.

USC has earned respect in going on the road for tough games, same with Texas, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Oklahoma etc. That is why those team are highly ranked.

when I see Florida or Georgia head north or west and win then you will get more respect.

And as always, when Florida has to go outside of their conference to get touch games we'll let you know.

Its not our fault the Pac-10 has been more than weak for years upon years. The SEC is strong. Period.

Outside of the SEC Florida plays FSU and its opening season games. Nothing to complain about there, just not enough room for anything else outside of competitive schedule games. When USC goes somewhere but Nebraska, Notre Dame and Arkansas let me know. Could they have picked a weaker SEC team? Oh wait, Ole Miss. Very ballsy.

BIG 12 and SEC > Pac-10, Big Ten, Mac(and I'm more of a tOSU fan than UF, but I've seen all of these conferences in person over the last few years, the best and the worst teams in all, and those are the facts)

1. Big 12 sucks balls this year, that's not really saying much.

2. The only reason Oregon won is because your refs are cheating homers. The replay clearly shows OU's #23 recovering the ball as it squirts out of the pile with the onsides kick. And there's the tipped ball on the PI call that even I saw on my crap 27" in real time. But still, I have no problems with Dirt Burlgar getting hosed... so kudos to Nike U, but the projected #2 of the Pac-10 needed home cooking to beat an OU squad that can't tackle and who has no O-line :shakehead

3. The Pac-10 has so far been summarily f***stomped by the SEC as I've noted in an earlier post. http://www.offcamber.net/forums/showpost.php?p=168275&postcount=411

There was reportedly an emergency Board of Trustees meeting called at the University of Miami yesterday afternoon to talk about the future of coach Larry Coker, according to Fox Sports Radio's Jorge Sedano. The report indicated that both Jim Kelly & Bernie Kosar were spotted awaiting the meeting to take place. The speculation was that Coker could be out as early as today. Hurricanes defensive. coordinator Randy Shannon could take over if Coker is given the pink slip.

honestly though, the booth official had 1 replay angle only, no freeze frame capability, and it took forever for them to get the feed to him, by which time the tv producer & field official are in his ear telling him to make a decision already (and default review decision is always uphold the call)...

1. Why does the Pillow-10 have a bush league system? With .00000001% of their budget I have a superior replay system in my living room.

2. Why the hell is a TV producer doing involved in/pressuring in-game officiating :saywhat:

skewer that tool and put his head on a pike. TV timeouts are bad enough, the new clock rules have gone too far and have taken away 20% of the football, and now they're pressuring refs in-game? Over the line, Smokey. Over the line.

After losing the national title for the first time in three years, USC decided to lose a third of its student section. When USC hosts Nebraska, the student section will have shrunk from last year’s total of about 12,000 seats to 8,000.

The school also eliminated guest tickets in the student section. Forget bugging your buddy at USC for an extra Notre Dame ticket. You’ll have better luck on eBay.

so true, so very very true... 14 TV timeouts per game for Big XII TV contracts, fyi. 14*5 == 70 == 1 hour 10 minutes of game stoppage.

http://dodgyatbest.blogspot.com/2006/09/one-horrible-cfb-change-too-many.html

*You can create a 5th BCS bowl by stiffing any number of the good non BCS bowls and instead having a ridiculous 2 Fiesta Bowls this year, the 2nd of which serves at the national championship game and doesn't even have a name really.

*You can sell the TV rights for the BCS Bowls (except the Rose) to Fox Sports through 2010, ensuring that I have to put up with stupid robot graphics, unneccessary sound effects every 14 seconds, and a giant arrow superimposed on the field every play showing down, distance, and the direction the offense is going (if there is a single man, woman, or child who watches a football game and can't figure out which way the offense is trying to go when both teams are lined up then I would be stunned, yet Fox persists with the giant arrow anyways).

*You can change the rules of the game to cut out 10-12% of football as a reaction to the fact that game times became excessive due to added commercials, which of course were not limited.

*You can create a new replay system where every major play is reviewed, more than half rather needlessly and for way too long, which kills momentum for teams and fans at the stadium and irritates knowledgeable fans watching on TV.

*You can create a new "Coaches Challenge" rule for instant replay which approaches absolute zero on the intelligence scale by only allowing 1 per game and only if you have a timeout.

*You can slowly erode ESPN GameDay from great must see TV to barely better than ****, and cap it of with a fundamental change whereby they no longer go to the best game of the week but rather whatever game happens to be on their showcase network, resulting in them overly hyping USC-Nebraska last week, a game where SC was favored by 17 points, while passing on Auburn-LSU, Notre Dame-Michigan, Louisville-Miami or Tennessee-Florida, all of which were better games with more evenly matched good teams.

OK. None of these are anything approaching good, but I can turn the other cheek and tolerate them because my love of CFB is big enough that as much as you lessen it's greatness it is still pretty damn good.

But you cannot take our beloved Ron Franklin, the best CFB announcer out there, and remove him from the ESPN Saturday night feature game that he has been calling since I was a wee lad. This is just too damn much. It's unacceptable.
