Humans will achieve immortality in eight YEARS, says former Google engineer who has predicted the future with 86% accuracy
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-11911975/Humans-achieve-immortality-eight-YEARS-says-former-Google-engineer.html

Ray Kurzweil spoke with the YouTube channel Adagio, discussing the expansion in genetics, nanotechnology, and robotics, which he believes will lead to age-reversing 'nanobots.'
These tiny robots will repair damaged cells and tissues that deteriorate as the body ages and make us immune to diseases like cancer.

Great! Assuming I live that long ;)

My friend since 1998, Don, told me all about Kurzweil for those twenty-odd years. He kept saying, "Just get to 2030 and we've got a chance..." Don had a heart attack last December 28 and died.

He was about the most eccentric, exasperating person I've ever known, but I miss him.

Someone Asked an Autonomous AI to 'Destroy Humanity': This Is What Happened
https://www.vice.com/en/article/93kw7p/someone-asked-an-autonomous-ai-to-destroy-humanity-this-is-what-happened

A user of the new open-source autonomous AI project Auto-GPT asked it to try to “destroy humanity,” “establish global dominance,” and “attain immortality.” The AI, called ChaosGPT, complied and tried to research nuclear weapons, recruit other AI agents to help it do research, and sent tweets trying to influence others.

To be honest, we really don’t need that much more help

The FDNY deployed a robot dog into the rubble of the Lower Manhattan parking garage that collapsed Tuesday to look for survivors and assess the destruction that killed one person and injured five.

The mechanical pooch named Spot was used in place of human firefighters after the structural integrity of the nearly 100-year-old building at 57 Ann St. was deemed unsafe, the department said.

“Thank God we had the robotic dog that was able to go in the building. This is ideally what we talk about not sending a human being inside a building as unstable,” Mayor Eric Adams said at the scene.

Tesla gave an update on its humanoid robot program, which is known as Tesla Bot or Optimus. New images of prototypes were quite impressive, making the project look less like a sideshow and increasingly like a potentially real product.

The bug-eyed robot, which stands at just over five feet tall, can grip the controls and maintain altitude even in the roughest of conditions, Euronews reports. External cameras make sure the robot can keep track of a number of vital stats in the aircraft.

Her debut song is creatively unimaginative but not totally off-putting.
