He would have waited, then complained that waiting for Tagliani ruined his race. I think he may find himself in Brazilain stockers next year.

According to the Globe and Mail (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20060801.FIGHT01/TPStory/TPSports/OtherSports/) PT and Tag have kissed and made up. Penalties for the fracas to be announced by Champcar tomorrow.

Not necessarily. According the book The Long Tail, the top ten videos on YouTube regularly have higher ratings than the top TV events/shows.

Who knew so many would want to watch Chinese teenagers lipsynch hip hop?

Sorry Trev, I meant that we got better, longer and more replays of the fight from youtube instead of seeing the whole fight on the broadcast.... when they had a whole half hour to kill after the race.... would have been better than talking to Legge.

The guy runs in to burning buildings for a living, so I doubt that he even blinked at that pathetic display.

One hell of a guy, too ... he took a lot of ribbing after stepping in to break up that fight. I'm sure at least 50 people offered to buy him a striped shirt and a whistle, and he took it all in stride.

I remember a couple of seasons ago Derick explained his hollyhock comment saying that it was an Irish or English saying for parents to tell their young girls whenever a funeral procession passed by. Although, he wasn't very clear about it's origin either. I've googled the phrase and came up with others using it but not the meaning.
Anyone know?

CHAMP CAR WORLD SERIES ANNOUNCES PENALTIES FROM SAN JOSE EVENT

INDIANAPOLIS (August 2, 2006) - The Champ Car World Series today announces penalties stemming from both on- and off-track events that took place during this past weekend's Canary Foundation Grand Prix of San Jose Presented by Taylor Woodrow.

Paul Tracy (#3 Indeck Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) will be placed on probation for the next three races and will forfeit seven (7) championship points for violation of Champ Car Rule 6.29 concerning unjustifiable risk. Tracy will also be fined an undisclosed amount for violation of Champ Car Rule 2.6 regarding conduct, specifically 'Participants engaged in any event....must refrain from intentional physical contact with any participant, inappropriate or profane language...and unsportsmanlike behavior.'

Alex Tagliani (#15 Aussie Vineyards Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) will be fined an undisclosed amount for violation of Champ Car Rule 2.6 regarding conduct, specifically 'Participants engaged in any event....must refrain from intentional physical contact with any participant, inappropriate or profane language...and unsportsmanlike behavior.'

Katherine Legge (#20 Gulfstream/Bell Micro Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) will be placed on probation for the next three races for on-track misconduct.

Considering the press the 'brawl' generated, CCWS should be paying them! Like RM said in his new Speed editorial, Champ Car should pray it happens more.

What would you have preferred? A public flogging perhaps? ;)

Not enough cars these days to sit anyone out.

as someone going to the denver race, i am stoked that no one got bounced from the race, especially PT.

Cant wait for the press conferences and the ongoing upside for the event here in Denver following the SJ, fight day.

Probably already posted somewhere, but this is my first post in this particular forum in about 2 years. I don't know what hollyhocks are either, but perhaps it's what Derek is looking at so intently during this interview?

that's called "letting the 'stick and ball' sports crew put together a story about racing". it's pretty common.
