You just don't know what computing means until you've taken one of these for a test spin.

I actually thought to myself the other day...'You know, Spicoli's going to have a badass computer soon.'

You'll have to post a pic once you've got it up and running and broken-in a bit.

Go for a neutral chaotic magic user / fighter they have a good balance over a stand alone magic user or fighter. Less spells, but you can use up to a +15 two handed sword.
From the very start look for the +2 flaming dagger at the tavern (DON"T PISS OFF THE BAR MAID or you won't get the dagger!).
Then make your way out of town towards the Woods of the Winds. There you can summon a wood elemental who will give you a magic flute in exchange for some advice. The magic flute replenishes your hit points at 1 point per melee round.

If you want I'll meet you at the village next to Lake Ellwyneyll. There is a tavern there called the White Pony. I'll be the wood elf fighter assassin in the corner. We can team up for a quest.

Spicoli,

One thing I would do in the next week or two (whenever you have some time) is download rthdribl

http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/

It's a program that will stress-test your video card, and it's completely free. You don't even have to install it - you just unzip it to a directory on your hard drive and double click on the .exe. When the program starts up, drag the window to resize it until you get about 20 frames per second (fps - displayed in the upper left hand corner). Then let it run for 2-3 hours.

You don't have to watch it the whole time, just check back every 45 minutes or so and make sure that the image still looks (doesn't look corrupted or have colors that look funny).

The reason I recommend doing this is that, since you're not a gamer, you'll have no way of testing whether the 3-D rendering capabilities of your video card are working correctly. However, should you upgrade to Windows Vista at some point, Vista *will* use the 3-D rendering capabilities of your card for it's built in features (Aero Glass interfact, preview icons, etc.).

Bottom line - it would suck to have a bad video card (from a 3-D standpoint) and not know it until you upgraded to Vista. Rthdribl will shake out any problems that might exist at the moment - and you can get them taken care of right away.

Truthfully, about 6 months ago I wouldn't have even been worried about doing this, but at the moment there seems to be an industry-wide problem with producing fully functional video cards. I can't explain it...but it's certainly not confined to any particular manufacturer. So, this is a quick and free test that you can run that will stress the card and make sure that you're problem free.

If you have any questions or trouble, you can PM me and I'll help you out, but it's pretty easy to use and I doubt you'll have any trouble. And congrats on your new computer dude!
