I'll never forget.
Neither will I. Article in today's LA Times about teachers using personal stories to tell students too young to remember it. Hard to believe because it's so indelibly seared into my memory but I'm not 0-15 years old any more either.
Was talking to a technical rescue guy not too long ago - the topic of the dogs came up. It was an odd (but obvious) reality check when we realized that all the search and rescue K9's that worked that job have passed. :(

There is one still alive. They had the golden on NBC news last night. I'm sure some ended up with health issues, but @ 13 years, that's getting close to life expectancy for a dog in any case. :(
EDIT: Here's a link to the story.

This image, taken yesterday, made the rounds on the Web yesterday on the eve of 9/11 (click to enlarge if it displays small).

The Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville opened yesterday for family members of the Flight 93 heroes. 14 years after 9/11?!? That's just pathetic. :saywhat: (and it's still not finished)

They were only the first Americans to fight back, AND saved the White House, or the Capitol, in the process.
But, who cares, right? :irked:

Bretagne is the last known surviving search-and-rescue dog who was at 9/11. She had a special NYC birthday! #nbc4i http://goo.gl/XlDMIm?cid=twitter_nbc4i …
That's awesome, but sad, too.
Not sure where to put this...

This video compelled me to email both senators today urging them to support whatever is needed for 9-11 first responders.
Very sad that our government seems unable to deal with even something as fundamental as this.

Or even comprehend it. :(
