No it isn't. In the late ninties they made the current "common template" attempt. So, I may be behind the times a bit and it is more like 6 or 7 years rather than 3 to 4 but, through most of the ninties, there were major differences in the body style of the vehicles.
edit...1996 was the first common push, 2003 was the iteration that is now racing.

According to Jeff Gordon it does. Gordon dislikes the CoT because it "doesn't look like a real race car", which is really funny coming from a guy who only knows NASCAR in the age of aero matching crap.
Achhhh...It'll take about 3 races for the "true fans":) to get used to it and I suspect in 10 years they'll still look the same. Remember, the main focus of the change was safety and if that part of it is a success, then good. I fear all it will lead to is even MORE bumper car action and idiotic crash fests! The fans'll LOVE it! (what was it, 107 laps under yellow last week?):shakehead

As soon as that wing showed up in CoT testing I posted that the folks who run the team merch trailers would have all the contracts signed to sell streetable versions of those wings with the numbers and all the right stickers to the necks for big bux starting with Speed Weeks. Suitably festooned aftermarket splitter kits will be available by the running of the Firecraker 400.

Over 80 laps of caution at Martinsville is not uncommon, crashfests started long before the COT and will continue after the implementation of the COT.

I don't have a photo, but there is a guy round here who has a dodge ram truck, and on the hard tonneau cover, he has a wing that would make a superbird envious. :yuck:
