Would you bet $100 that Champ Car will have 22 cars on average next season? I offered to bet a hater $10 that Champ Car would have 20 cars on the grid... he upped it to $100 for 22.

On average? No.

Talk was they would have 22 max this year. The average is a challenging part simply because no one can tell what the owners will do in a given situation. Who woulda thunk that RuSport would only run 1 car for weeks on end. Then when they finally decide to come back with 2, Justin busts his hand and they're down to 1 again. Rocketsports will always be a question mark. I'm still doubtful about PCM, and there is rumours some of the big teams may do 3 cars.

All this tells me to expect 20 every week, with the odd occasion of a race with 21 or 22.

Is he willing to bet the IRL will have more than 16? 18?

Unlike the IRL, looking at the team line up I think if they get 20 or 22 they will stay at that. Unless you have injuries, I think it is getting less and less likely that teams will be dropping car (and certainly not out) mid season. The IRL usually can't get past June without a lot of fallout and if they get past 16 in 07 they will certainly lose many of them by the end of the season.

I like nrc's take on the situation as there really isn't much "left to bet over". :thumbup:

Lastly, on Andrew's take, I could afford to lose the $100, but not the pride. Hate the haters...
