Star Racer - setting up the cap - who wants to watch?

So i'm looking for numbers of people who will want to watch this show.

If you haven't heard, Star Racer is a Canuck reality show pitting 8 karters vs 8 racers of other disciplines, to find the one best driver of the group who gets a full season of Star Mazda. (and one driver's a cone cruncher, so sean can feel enabled.) The judges are a motley bunch - PT, Legge and Daly. (yoda?!? :laugh: )

I'm going to cap the final 6 episodes - the actual challenge. I'll post these online if anyone wants to watch it.

I'm not going to watch it, and would prefer to leave out my vote. I'd hope the "Yes" votes would be the number of people you'd be helping out by capping and sharing it.

Coo. Working on it then. It'll be a big file, and i'll hopefully have it online somewhere where you can easily download it. I haven't figured out what format yet, but am leaning towards DivX.

Looking forward to it... I finally caught the second episode with the karting showdowns. Interesting stuff, I've never really been "in" the kart scene so it's kind of cool to see where things begin.

What's depressing is that without money, the guys who dominate and are champs in karting get nowhere. Glad this show will give someone an opportunity.

It is going to take anywhere from 2-5 hours to download as the speed is bouncing around between 30 and 100 KB/sec :saywhat:

Can you compress it? Maybe give H.264 a try.

I've been working on that.

The file is the original copy file just to have something for people - I've been using the latest version of video editing software to pare it down, but it keeps recoding it with the sound out of sync.

got it down a third of the size, 390 megs.... I agree its not as small as I would like it, but i want to keep the vid & audio quality there. I'm still working on it though, since I've got a few more episodes to go.

What isn't working? You can't access the link? or you have problems after the file has been dloaded.

I accessed the link just now to test it. A little slow, but the page came up. After you click on the link, the actual 'dload the mpeg file' link is at the bottom of that page.

Finally they're in the friggin' cars!!! :)

Interesting to hear DD and PT's comments on the drivers, even in these simple driving tasks they have a lot to say.

Amazing how difficult it actually is. I would have thought these talented karting guys could be quick out of the box, but they don't even know how to take a friggin' corner! :laugh:

yep. I would have done this story differently. Don't waste 2 whole episodes on the karting before. Give every driver 3 full days of training before you start cutting people, that way the non-karters get a better chance. I'd probably add a little more from the chalets - there seems to be a couple good storylines in there.

Agreed... tough to come from a bike or stock car background and be judged against karting guys on your first day turning laps! Didn't give them much time to get used to the cars, especially the heal-toe stuff... if you're still getting used to changing gears and braking, you're not going to be able to concentrate on really getting through the corners on the edge.

Plus there's that one guy that actually went to the Mt. Tremblant racing school once before, that's a huge advantage.
