Thanks. It was good. Giants disappointed, but good nevertheless. Wife ordered pastys shipped from Marquette, MI. If you don't know 'em you're missing out. (no they have nothing to do with strippers)

About 25 years ago there was a bar deep in the woods about 25 miles from Ishpeming. On some nights they would hire a "dancer" to "dance" off to the side (so as to not get in the way of the pooltable). The only music was was a juke box with C&W music. She had to bring her own quarters and worked for tips. Long winters, little work. It was pathetic but an utterly authentic Yooper experience.
There used to be a bar called Andy's Tavern under the ore pier in downtown MQT. On Tuesdays they held a wet Tshirt contest... until it was raided after the 15 year old daughter of the water commissioner won by "losing" her Tshirt.
Simpler times :)
Pasties are the ultimate comfort food.
(which means that they include meat, bread, & potatoes, are easy to eat, taste like unseasoned meat, and are utterly inedible without some sort of sauce - ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, coffee grounds, coyote urine, etc.)
;) :p
All that, but I miss them.
