TiVo is my co-pilot.
Oh, don't I know it! My THD is on standby right now until the new cable install tomorrow due to recent move. I'm going through withdrawls! :yuck:

Hope you got a decent cable tech. CC install can be painful otherwise.

It went fine, luckily. I'm back onboard. To Do list shows plenty of Dogfights.
Pretty impressive program. It's a shame that, with the exception of the sinking of the Bismark (which wasn't a dogfight) it is all US military. The fact that there is no stuff from the Battle of Britain is shameful.

they could do a whole show on "Pat" Pattle and have some really interesting stuff. "Tuck" Thomas, Doug Bader, Cunningham... the list goes on....

Good point. But there was an episode on Dog Fights of the middle east that focused on Israel. Major oversight, though.

Call me spoiled, but I wasn't all that impressed with the "Supersonic" episode.

It was pretty good.
For those who get the Military channel (and who doesn't?) there's a new show coming that may be interesting - Showdown: Air Combat. It appears that the premise is that they re-enact classic dogfights in old warbirds. Not sure how realistic it will be, but some of the footage looks pretty cool.
First episode Sunday:
Showdown: Air Combat
F-86 Sabre vs. MiG-15 North American and Russian jet fighters square off in the Korean War.

One of my favorite flight sims was A-10 Cuba! ( back in '96!!) I loved getting absolutely riddled with ground fire and limping back to base. I can still remember the sounds. Love that plane!

It'd be fun if the Air Force and the Navy ran a test on an old derelect destroyer to see what a few Tbolts could do to it per "The Hunt for Red October"....

Arg that intro video did not make me hopeful
I find it funny how many facts that the guys who actually fought in WWII get wrong. The British guy said the Sherman went "From a 6 Pounder to a 17 Pounder". It actually when from a M3 75mm to the 17 Pounder. The 6 Pounder was 57mm.
Another notorious inaccuracy vets say is that they all saw tigers when in fact most were PIV ausf. G. Pilots also claim that they would strafe and kill Tigers by bouncing their .50 cal off the ground and penetrating the Tigers under army. Aside from bullets not bouncing the .50 would not penetrate the tigers belly armor directly.
I don't blame them though, It was hard to see out of tanks and scary as hell. If I was alive back then I would of chose to do infantry in a heartbeat.
Tank version coming up.
