Of all the drivers I've covered over the years, one stands out as an inspiration for these holidays: Alex Zanardi, whose life story transcends all sports.

Five years ago, the former CART champion was leading a race in Lausitz, Germany, when he spun and stalled on the main straight. Another car sliced his in two, taking both of his legs in the wreckage.
