Thanks for the heads-up, High Sided! The Dakar Rally is always a highlight of off-season, and I'm glad that my cable provider will be showing it.

wonder if Robbie will bother to test the thing this year before he heads over ?
I predict Gordon futility :D
Damn long ways to go for a Hummer. Although, it is a monster Hummer.

Forget 5 or 6 days to go, I'll be happy if he's still in after 5 or 6 days. :D

What an ugly POS.
I didn't think it was possible to make a Hummer uglier than they already are, I was wrong, very wrong.

Is he no longer sponsored by Red Bull, then?

He's been with Jim Beam in NASCAR since 2005 too...my comment was because he's had personal sponsorship from Red Bull the past several years and thus always wears the standard Red Bull helmet design in everything except open wheel, and they sponsored his BGN ride in the 2005 Mexico City race...wouldn't Monster be a conflict of interest otherwise?

i'd think so but robbys site still displays red bull along with several other sponsers. wearing a red bull helmet with a monster driving suit does sound unrealistic, kinda like the irl/champcar playing together.
Did I hear right, Robbie rolled it on day two? :shakehead

I don't think he rolled, just ran off the road and got stuck in a ditch.
He lost somthing like 15 minutes.
22 320 GORDON (USA) GRIDER (USA) HUMMER 06:08:09 00:58:50 13:00

I don't know. I'm thinking we should start a pool guessing on which stage he ultimately destroys that thing.
I'm in.
Robbie will make Dakar, not in first, but he will make it. :D
I think he has learned in the past 3 years what it takes to finish.
A South African biker has died.:(
ACCIDENT OF SOUTH AFRICAN ELMER SYMONS (107)
The organisation of the Dakar received the news this morning of the death of South Africa’s Elmer Symons, bike rider n°107.

BBC news reported that Robby Gordon had the fastest time for today's stage. Of course, the VWs still lead...

he's nearly 7hrs back but in the top 10, 8th:)
“We were stretching the fuel window so again like stage eight we had to be conservative with the throttle.
Tomorrow we are going to try win the special. I think the special is especially well suited to the Hummer so the 10th stage might be Hummer time.”
No, not quite, Robbie. He ran out of fuel and had to borrow some from friendly bikers.Twice!
A couple of American's are doing good, Chris Blaise forth in the bikes and Mark Miller sixth in the cars plus Robbie in eighth.

Who are these French dudes who come out of top in the Mitsubishis? And the Russian trucks.
Apart from the Day two mishap, no real driver errors.Gordon drove well all rally.I think his Hummer needs to shed a few pounds, though, if he really want to win.
Well done, Robbie. :)
