May lose the entire season if a title sponsor isn't found.

Hopefully any new sponsor will force them back to Porsches on road courses.

It would be worth watching then.

Good let it die and then let someone come back and resurect it as a real race of champions and not the nascar shitshow it has become....

IROC's been a complete waste since they abandoned real cars and real courses.

I hope '07 is the year that other irrelevant racing dies.

It is interesting in a way that since it morphed into a sort of NASCAR all star race that it nevertheless doesn't hold enough interest for NASCAR fans to earn a title sponsor.

And it is lightyears from holding interest for other race fans.

Given modern driver contracts its too bad that they will never get proper and full participation from F1, WRC, CC, IRL, WoO, ALMS, GA, etc. (though the RoC does pretty well).

And they will never go to a more proper racecar on a diverse set of venues. Remember back when they ran Porsches and the NASCAR guys kept blowing up the trannies? That's why they went to the Camaros because otherwise the NASCAR guys wouldn't play.

All true, but the "new" ROC is just as silly as far as I'm concerned. As soon as they took it off the islands and went mainstream in a silly stadium it was over.

Who is going to miss it?

I didn't start following racing until the early-mid 1990's. I have a feeling that I've never actually seen a "true" IROC race.

But it has a large field of talented drivers, which is more than you can say about the other semi-pro road racing series...

I didn't start following racing until the early-mid 1990's. I have a feeling that I've never actually seen a "true" IROC race. You're feeling is correct. When it started in 1974 there were a mix of road and oval events and the field was made up of seriously good drivers from sports cars, F1, champ cars and stock cars. In 1974 they ran Porsche Carrera RSR's and road racer Mark Donohue won.

Seeing roadracers of the caliber of Mark Donohue, George Folmer, the Unsers, Emerson Fittipaldi, James Hunt, Graham Hill, Jody Sheckter, Mario Andretti, Jacky Ickx, Brian Redman etc. taking on oval track drivers like Richard Petty, A.J. Foyt, David Pearson, Johnny Rutherford, Cale Yarborough, Bobby Allison, and Benny Parsons was of actual interest.

Once the turned it into an all oval series with 90% stock car drivers it wasn't worth bothering with IMO. No surprise to me that it finally died.

More like patting his own...

And why does Andretti the Lesser need both hands in his pockets when daddy has the only pair in the family since Jeff walled it?
