I'm looking at a possible trip to Bermuda next weekend and I wasn't able to pull the trigger on it until my wife's passport came thru. Well, it showed up on Saturday and now I'm looking into airfare. Times and prices are pretty crappy, but there's on flight that goes thru NYC that isn't too bad. However, I'd hafta transfer from La Guardia Airport to JFK in the 3 hour NY stop.
Not knowing New York in the least, is this pretty much a pain in the ass? Would I have to grab my bags myself from La Guardia and haul them to JFK? Would there be a shuttle or would I just hop a cab? Any insight would be appreciated.

google finds a couple pages for a starter....
http://www.panynj.gov/aviation/connframlga.htm

the metafilter page has a couple people that say 3.5 hours minimum for this... your 3 hour might cut it close if your plane into LGA is delayed

Thanks Stevie... after reading the Metafilter page I'm gonna say, "Funk dat!"
Here's the bus schedule: http://www.nyairportservice.com/jfk_lga_jfk.html
And the official list of options: http://www.panynj.gov/aviation/connfram.HTM
In theory, you should be able to make it between the two airports in an hour. (Taxi time could be 30 minutes and $20, but it is New York...) Add in extra time for baggage claim, security, immigration, etc. (And, waiting for the bus)

I live here, depending upon the time of day you should be able to get a cab to get you from LGA to JFK or back in 30 minutes or less. If the traffic gets crappy, maybe an hour. And as posted there is a bus (few bucks) which is cheaper than a cab, but the cab will get you there much faster (probably 20 bucks). You would definitely be carrying your bags yourself so factor that time in for picking up and then checking in again....

Thanks for the replies, but it looks like I'm gonna pass on the trip altogether.
[Airplane!] It looks like I'm gonna pass on the trip. [/Airplane!]
Screwy times and lack of motivation to travel the weekend after Sebring put this getaway in the dumpster. I'll log the replies into my skull for future reference.
