For almost a decade, fans have been given rides in specially built two-seat cars with professional drivers at the wheel. Starting next month, fans will have the opportunity to go it alone -- after signing liability waivers and undergoing some classroom training.

Either this will pay for a couple of entries in May or kill off the rest the IRL fan base during April. :tony:
The pace cars will keep fans from going too fast, Green said.
"There's a comfort range that the professional drivers quickly pick up on, and that's right around 80, 90 mph," he said. "Certainly if somebody's comfortable enough, they'd probably do 100 mph."
Fans will have classroom training and cockpit instruction before they get behind the wheel. Then they'll be able to drive four laps around the 2½-mile oval.
The fan-driven rides will cost $399 for four laps, while the two-seat rides cost $475 for three laps.

The Richard Petty driving experience uses a pace car too but they get you up to about 140 or more.
For that kind of money I can drive an F2000 all day at Pocono or Nazareth at more than 135.

 my 4 cylinder rav4 tops out at 115mph:rofl:
100mph isn't a ripoff on the right kind of track. $399-$475 for 3 or 4 laps at Indy? Now, THAT'S a ripoff! Idiots in station wagons can do 100mph at RA during lunch break "touring" in July for $75.:)
I'm surprised at you guys. This is no laughing matter. They haul people out of there on stretchers, you know. You need to show some respect.

Good point. Running in front of those grandstands and going into T1 can be pretty intimidating. Separates the men from the winners I hear;)
