My parents are going to LA/San Diego for a week (May 5-12) and I was wondering if people could recommend places to go/see if you're going to be there? They like to see things/places like gardens, zoos, museums, touristy attractions, etc. They aren't interested in recreational things unless it's to go see something (like the Grand Canyon). Thanks for any suggestions!

The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens (http://www.huntington.org/) in San Marino (near Pasadena). And on the other side of the coin, The Farmers Market (http://www.farmersmarketla.com/)in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles.
It's been a long time since I've been, but the SD Zoo is a must, as is the Getty Museum. If they like baseball, a trip to Dodgers stadium is also a must. Petco Park in SD looks interesting as well. A short cruise to Catalina Island is also fun.

Thanks for the recommendations indyfan31 and Kevin.
I think they had SD Zoo and Sea World on their list, and maybe Hollywood. The Huntington looks like something they'd like for sure.

I can't believe I forgot the Getty Museum.
There's also the Getty Villa in Santa Monica, a bit smaller but very cool.
