About three years ago or so, I did the same thing in a thread I started at 7G.

I even found Firebird and Putnam Park. And my house. And The Speedrome (local short oval in Indy) and Raceway Park, and... I don't remember.

I'll look again later tonight and try to find some more.

Here is an image that includes my house (far lower right of the picture) and a unique site for a potential CART race in DuPage county, IL at the upper left - FNAL (Fermi National Accelerator Laboratories) - which could be turned into a 3 mile diameter skid pad. :D Let's expand the CART diversity: Street, Road, Oval, Superspeedway, Superskidpad.:)

FWIW, the DuPage County airport mentioned in various threads is only a few miles North of the Fermilab ring. And if you ever fly into Chicago from the SouthWest, you pretty much go right over this area. Fermilab is quite visible from the air.

I am not. On business I make visits to the big buildings downtown and 12 months a year you can make out the line from the rubber that is still laid down on the track.

And Napoleon's right, you can see the racing line year round. Heck, Zanardi's donut marks were there for two years. :cool:

Yup. 2 clicks North, then 1 click NW from RAs house and you're at DuPage Co. Airport, St. Charles, Ill. NUMEROUS possibilities for layouts there. Short, long, VERY long! This COULD be the Chicago race CART needs. It's not the lakefront, but it'd
have to be WAY cheaper to set up. They had THE Corvette fest there last summer (at the nearby Pheasant Run Resort) with huge crowds and many airshows with same, so handling the people is no problem. Besides, I could ride my Cannondale to the race! C'mon dd, let's see some track layouts. ALL of the runways and taxiways are plenty wide enough to accomodate champcars.
