View Full Version : Gomers Fleece Geeks
Evidently some enterprising gomers have managed to convince a bunch of Linux geeks to contribute money to propping up Tony's Indy facade. The goal was $250,000. They only raised $14,000 but whoever is running Moreno was evidently willing to accept that.

the bright spot?
maybe Pupo get's his airfare and hotel reimbursed.
no danger in them winning and him crying or anything like that.:D
Will Moreno be able to pilot the penguin-tipped Indy car to victory next week at the 91st Indianapolis 500?
Anybody want to answer their question? :D
Politics aside, they tried. Has any group successfully fielded a race car on donations only? (No Tonyjokes, please.)

The answer to your question is, "It depends on how you define 'fielded'."
I distinctly remember a car at the 500 claiming to be funded by fans buying a couple of square inches of space for their names, but I don't think it did very well and I don't think it ran anything other than the 500. No recollection of who drove or owned.

didn't these guys try to get Direfox to sponsor the car?
I wonder if Steve Jobs will try to get the Apple Turnovers to part with their cash into sponsoring an IRL 500 car in 2008?
