The Champ Car ranks may swell next year with the addition of a new team representing “the adult industry.” It was announced in Los Angeles at the Erotica LA convention over the weekend that Sports Entertainment International will launch AVN (Adult Video News) Racing in 2008.
“This is a major development for the adult entertainment industry,” said SEI president Russ Herriott. “as it would be a featured sports marketing initiative for the industry, with the AVN brand and the brands of other companies being displayed next to Fortune 500 companies that compete and participate in the (Champ Car World Series).

I wonder if this will actually happen. They could really use it, but there may be a lot of objections coming from many directions. Other sponsors, ESPN/Disney...
On an advertising side-note, I've seen E*Trade advertising I think for every race. I'd love to see a white/green/purple car out there in the future.

It's just sick that some one thinks loose women should be associated with racing.

Personally, I think loose women should be associated with everything.
I'm sure I read about this a couple of days ago. If only,,,,,,,I could remember where.
I suspect this team is vaporware, but...
There have been babes and bimbos at every race I've attended. Don't see why this would be any different.

Evidently red on black is the new red.
Nothing to see here, move along. She's just modeling the new "SCD", safety corset device to be mandated for all drivers in '08. (this one is quite obviously the DPAAA model 1st tested by Danica last fall)

Never happen. They'll sign Danica 1st. :gomer: :yuck: :saywhat:

You can't register. Once you hit register to send your info, you get a bad html 405 message.

I saw a few young ladies dressed like that in Cleveland. ;)
I can think of more distasteful sponsors so why not.

I would love to see more cars on the grid. It could only improve the racing in my opinion. If it comes with AVN beach volleyball and AVN grid girls, I guess I'll just have to accept it. ;)

I don't think McDonalds would be very happy if their hospitality tent was next to a tent that featured nasty whores with big implants handing out Champcar Buttplugs. This will never fly.

OK then.... how about tasty whores handing out CCWS condoms that say, "when in use"..... turn out to say "ChampCarWorldSeries" ?????
that would be good, right ?

Likely not. However, about the only way McDonalds would ever know is if someone took a picture and sent it to Ronald himself. Besides, I see a natural synergy with lining the Hamburglar up alongside the Turdburgler, although that may be better suited to the earl. :D

As long as they don't (gasp) also advertise tobacco on the cars.... :saywhat:

Eh. I'll wonder about the moral dilemma if this ever gets off the ground.
Actually, I wont really wonder, cause I'm of the belief that if its legal, then it should be legal to advertise it. Cigs included.

I’m sure I’m being a hypocrite given motor racing’s long association with alcohol and tobacco, neither of which have done the world any favors, but this is a sponsor we don’t need.
We need to encourage people to bring their children to the races; they are the future of the sport. I doubt many parents want to explain pornography to their children. I'm always in favor of more attractive, intelligent, interesting women being around the races and everywhere else. They're just more "fun" than beer swilling guys, they make for better dates, and I suppect they represent an under represented demographic group. I doubt porn industry advertising will encourage more of them to attend Champ Car races.
The fact that anyone would seriously consider this sponsorship shows how bad things are.

I've never been one to shy away from a good porn flick but there is a time and a place for everything. It is bad enough to have to explain (or avoid explaining) the dozens of Extenze & Viagra ads during every race (Do I have a special part Daddy?:saywhat: ) but adding a porn distributor as a sponsor is really pushing it.

Teh pr0n industry would reach too big of an audience. It's going to ruin the niche sport image Champ Car has been building the last how many years.

The kid aspect is the biggest reason to say no to this one, IMHO. The comparisons to alcohol and tobacco fall short in that many people consume both products in front of their kids. But those same people rightly shelter their kids from the other. I can explain alcohol and tobacco to my 7-y-o daughter in terms that she can understand. Porn, on the other hand, not so much.

Just another on the long list of weird motorsports sponsors. My peronal favorite is still Provimi Veal which actually had a pretty decent livery and went pretty fast at times when Luyendyk was on form.

My previous response was just an attempt at humor. As a father, I am not sure if I like this or not. Certainly I am more offended by the true pornography on display on network television every night in the form of horrific murder, rape, mutilation, etc. that passes for crime drama. People going at it in a fun way is not so offensive to me.
But, do I want my kid to connect the excitement of auto racing with some of the less wholesome aspects of the porn biz? Do I want to imply my approval of such by taking him to an event where it is featured?
On the other hand, does everything in the world have to be "family friendly" to please the puritanical Mommy censors out there? Can't we have some adult fun somewhere without being forced to be PC in every circumstance?
Tough questions. I suppose it will all come down to proper implementation.

I agree here. They will have to find the right balance between them getting the exposure (no pun inteneded) their sponsorship would require while at the same time not crossing a family friendly line. I think people are responsible enough to accomplish both.
Oh, c'mon. , the IMSA Momo Penthouse Porsche, complete with a big busted, fully clevaged Pet Of The Year serving Spaghetti in the paddock up at RA. Keke Rosberg sliding his pink "Excita" Formula Atlantic car all over the track. I don't recall much of a flap over that stuff.(PS-one of the greatest race posters of all time, Keke and the Excita car sideways, nipping at a concrete wall, Trois-Rivieres I think. Anyone remember that shot? Would love to see it again.)

It certainly is an interesting subject. Before I was really against it, but I figure as long as they keep it G and PG at the track, no problem.
And I must admit it's nice that over here we can have this discussion without yelling and screaming.

Having a racecar with avn on it at the races offers young eyes far less "exposure" to the porn industry than if they were buying a soda at the corner stop and rob. They'll see more boobs and butts on the magazine rack behind the cash register than they will on that car.
If this comes to be, I hope Buck and BigIRLFan bring enough Wild Turkey for everyone.
Will they be bringing Dick Trickle out of retirement? Probably won't get any pole positions and would end up hitting Legge from behind.

Unless they live in Utah where the stores are required to keep every magazine cover blocked from view including such hard core titles as People, Us Weekly & Time:rolleyes:

I can see this both ways, so I don't guess I have much of an opinion one way or the other. I think the best thing would be for AVN to come on board and act like every other sponsor the series has right now = employ the old "don't ask don't tell" sponsorship technique. Outside of writing the check and printing some decals, keep it all on the down low QT.
Outside of the few thousand people who still look up CCWS related info on the internet and the ones who buy paddock passes, no one else should have much of an objection to AVN... cause they won't know they're there. :(
