To allow moving aerodynamic devices, which will reduce drag by over 50% and allow a 40% reduction in the power required to maintain current speeds.
Are they planning on keeping it as open wheel? Reducing drag by 50% would be huge but is that possible with exposed tires?

Based on reading that article I'd say there are about a dozen ways to ruin F1.
i like the less aero part, if they can really reduce aero DF by 50% then mechanical grip becomes much more prevalent, plus the cars create less of a wake

So Max's split rear wing thing didn't work out? ;)
Spec undertray and wings. Windtunnel restrictions. Common components. The manufacturers championship isn't going to mean that much.
4 cyl? That should sound like crap.
Some of the fuel restrictions and energy recovery ideas are cool. But rather see them allow some of these efficiiency ideas rather than mandate them. Give team a bigger puzzle to solve.

Maybe I am getting senile, but didn't we do the turbo-4 thing a couple decades ago? I seem to remember cars with over 1000 hp in qualifying. Frankly, racing and fuel economy are kind of non-compatible to my eye.

Ya, that was the very expensive, toxic fuel era :thumbup: Qualifying motors that only lasted a couple laps too :thumbup: :thumbup: I don't see why racing has to be "relevant" to street cars either. Stoopid idea. If this crap passes F1 will run four cylinder, hybrids and Max will decide how much fuel they get :yuck:

I dunno, USOWR seems to find the number of ways to be limitless. :)
1.3-1.5 litre, 4-cylinder engine
If they want to run four cylinder engines, why not just run to F3 rules? :rolleyes:

Where were you and '62....? :gomer: Take all the aero devices off and put in the 1.5L four and we are back to where we were 45yrs ago. The difference is that it was fun the first time.

how about this:
-car must at its centre contain a carbon fibre safety cell
-car engine must not exceed 3.5L of any configuration and must remain naturally aspirated
-two aerodynamic devices per car allowed (but the devices do not have to be front or rear wings)
wallah. things would be interesting again,,,,,
