OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma football program must forfeit its wins from the 2005 season and will lose two scholarships for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school years.

The penalties, announced Wednesday by the NCAA, stem from a case involving two players, including the Sooners' starting quarterback, who were kicked off the team for being paid for work they had not performed at a Norman car dealership.

MORE TO COME

Huh? :shakehead The NCAA found no violations anywhere close to the OU stuff, which are close to routine SEC level violations. MC13 was DQ'd for a season, and then saw fit to challenge the NFL on it's draft rules, etc. T.Smith was suspended for receiving $300 from a booster, and was suspended for 2 games....arguably resulting in a loss to UT. In both cases, the 2A found no issues with the university, and the player suspensions (imposed by the university) were found to be sufficient.

Go fishing somewhere else, or do your homework. :saywhat:

Okay, here's my homework. Is it sufficient enough for you? (I don't recall if you're an alumnus or fan, but I doubt anything would change how you feel)

Oklahoma Violations:

The penalties stem from a case involving two players, including the Sooners' starting quarterback, who were kicked off the team last August for being paid for work they had not performed at a Norman car dealership. The NCAA said Oklahoma was guilty of a "failure to monitor" the employment of the players.

What Maurice Clarett did for sure:

Clarett is suspended for the season. Athletics director Andy Geiger says Clarett got special benefits worth thousands from a family friend and repeatedly misled investigators.

Add to that the $thousands of stuff he said was stolen from a car a car dealership was letting him drive (he later said he lied on the police report), an associate professor telling the NY Times that Clarett was allowed to take two oral exams after walking out of the final exam.

What's the difference here? Didn't OSU fail to monitor Maurice Clarett while he was getting all those benefits?

I'm not naive enough to think this stuff rarely happens, but the NCAA came down awfully hard on Oklahoma and OSU came out a LOT better. Weren't their dismissal of those players sufficient as well?
