I wonder how many plays the Patriots had scripted? Early on, the plays didn't reflect the reality that their O-line couldn't handle the pressure. On their last touchdown drive, they finally seemed to adjust, and the Giants were gasping for breath instead of knocking Brady to the turf.

Belichick walking off the field was awesome. I half expected him to pull the defense and forfeit the game just to try to taint the Giants win. Much hate in that one.

Just goes to show that something decent can originate from NJ. :p :gomer:

So Ohio puts up a few presidents, good small liberal arts colleges, and a few good college football teams. What else ya got? :p

I'll point out one clear mistake. On the Ben Watson false start, he was reacting to a Giants player moving toward the line of scrimmage. (No bearing on that drive because the Pats got a first down anyway.)

That was actually the right call. The Giant lineman did flinch but he didn't cross the neutral zone. D can move all it wants so long as they stay on their side of the ball.

That whole game was just inexplicable to me. Maybe he needs the video camera to know that a hurry-up offense would be a good idea. :D

I'll take your word for it since there is no way I'm watching that game ever again!

Live now: 11 am of the Giant's ticker tape parade. First football team to be honored as such. Lot's of baseball teams and astronauts and such though.

Here in NY the talk is how to name that play:

Immaculate Reception = Franco Harris
Hail Mary = Stuabach/Pearson
The Catch = Montana/Clark
??? = Manning/Tyree

The hard part is that both ends of the play were amazing

It may just become The Play

Steve Sabol of NFL films was quoted saying they are considering how to name the play and said they will spend a few weeks deciding on it. He received 60 calls yesterday with suggestions. And they will make a 15 minute movie on that single play.

The team is callling it The Grab

The Great Escape and Grab better gets both ends of the play.

BTW the celebration in NYC and later at the Meadowlands is driving the political class nuts because its election day and NJ/NY are big prizes. Hard to get out the vote when a couple million fans (literally) are in lower Manhattan and East Rutheford

Just an amazing play! The entire play really showed how badly the Giants wanted the game.

If the team is already calling it The Grab, it will probably remain that. I submit The Clutch. Eli escaped the clutch, Tyree clutched it. More (hang on here), it was a clutch situation and (worse yet) if they don't do it, the whole thing stalls.

/end/ how to stretch a metaphor til it yells for mercy

They still had fourth down. New England would've covered Plaxico one-on-one with a guy that had a sports hernia and groin injury. :D

As the only (admitted) Pats fan on this board I just want to say that I absolutely do not agree with the homers who feel the refs gave the game to the Giants by not calling holding, facemasks, hands to the face, etc. or playing shenanigans with the clock.

The Giants outcoached and outplayed the Patriots, plain and simple.

Thank You,
Non-delusional Patriots Fan

So the Pat's fans are complaining about cheating?

The super bowl crew frequently takes a more "let them play" attitude. From my couch it all looked pretty even and fair. If anyone wants to complain about non-calls there was a pretty blatant facemask by the Pats on the opening kickoff.

That's rich. It's like looking at a NFL Zapruder film. Lots of calling for a 15 yard face mask when there's no evidence there was actual grasping of the face mask. The worst case would be hands to the face which almost never gets called.

Yeah, you usually have to really bend the guys head up/back or hit him in the face to get that called. It's a lot of whining over a collapse at the end and terrible play from the offense (with all due respect to the Giants pass rush, I will never understand why they didn't give the O-Line help, they chipped a lot in the first meeting and did absolutely nothing to adjust to Brady being splattered). (One reason for the outcoached comment.)

The $100 million suit, filed on behalf of former Rams player Willie Gary in U.S. District Court in New Orleans, names the Patriots, team owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick.

Well, we all know he owns a suit since he wore won during a press conference a couple weeks ago. :)
