Did anyone else hear about two P-51s colliding, with the loss of one pilot?
What a shame.

At Oshkosh?
Evidently the pilot was well known in the warbird restoration world.

Not good.
Two weeks before, In a separate incident in Southern California, a man was soloing his new P-51 and also crashed during landing.

I've gone to that show a few times. It's insane. They kill a few people every year. Usually it's guys in homebuilts who auger in. A few people have been diced up by propellers on the ground. It's like a huge carnival with a lot of fast, dangerous machinery thrown in.

Yes, being a warbird enthusiast the below linked forum will have this info right away. The crash makes no sense. I called a friend of mine tonight who's a bigshot in the industry and he told me the planes weren't even landing in formation, he doesn't think Beck knew the other Mustang was there until the last second.

WTF was the second pilot doing?
Completely off topic, but you gotta check out "Biker chicks compete to see who can eat the most wiener."

The P-51's and most other single engine fighters have gigantic blindspots in front and below the aircraft. The pilot of the following plane most likely could not see the other plane. We will never know as he was the one killed.
That makes sense. When he got low enough the first plane would appear out of the blind spot.
