give it bIF#
Bush, this is pretty much as Mickey Mouse as it gets. Nothing good can come of it, and it's just another black eye for the series and management, whether they are directly involved with this decision or not.:shakehead

So whose to blame this time? Can't be the FIA.
Promoter? :p
Oh wait:
Unfortunately, current economic turmoil and the impact it has had on our sponsors precludes us from being able to produce the caliber of event we had envisioned.”
Whew! I was worried it was a problem with ChampCar, but it's just the economy.
This series is becoming a punch-line. I wouldn't be at all surprised if 2007 were the last season. :(

Sponsors will be impressed. Both sides are puking money out their asses. This is suspicious.........some bastard child of a "merger" can't be far away.

I have read that it's the France Mafia and Bernie's Cronies that are to blame. I've also read that we should not mention this any longer and stand behind the series. I wonder how the people who had tickets to Phoenix feel?:gomer:

ChampCar is the one going tits up. The IRL can wait, they have the goose that is still laying the golden eggs. KK's goose is laying stinky turds.
It's just all bad... I don't have any reason for optimism anymore. If any season was going to be the turn-around it had to be this one.

It deserved to die, between the crap layout, and WTF racing in December? leave that to A1GP....
And I was so looking forward to seeing Santa drive the pace car.

Yeah, I read that too. :shakehead
If this series had as many successes as half-azzed excuses, Fernando Alonso could use a potential Champ Car ride as leverage against McLaren for 2008. Instead... I wonder if Dan Clarke will be back next season? :yuck:
My suggestion to CCWS management for the 2008 season, if there is a 2008 season.
Schedule LB and Toronto and leave the rest as TBA's.
If you set the bar low enough, running just 3 races has already exceeded expectations.

Thanks. You gave me my laugh for the day. I don't know why, but this line had me cracking up.
It would be really great if some driver had a sponsor lined up for the Atlantics 'Dash for Cash' and now has to explain to that company that thanks for time and money but the event is canceled. However, Las Vegas is just next spring and there's no way that could be canceled... Right?

This was a bad idea as I posted when it was hatched and all it did was bring further embarassment to a series that didn't need more of the same.
Anyone that atteneded the F1 races is Phoenix knows why I thought it was a bad idea at the time it was announced. Even if the France rumors are true, it's still a dumb location for a race in a market that has shown repeatedly it doesn't care.

Not surprisingly, the RM chat is being dominated w/ PHX questions. (http://www.speedtv.com/chat/chattool.php?chat_id=87)

BTW:
Don, LA: Your take on the web "experts" is right on. Thanks to AR1.com, CC has been reduced to an F1 reject series.
:
I have no problem with a fan starting a web site like Mark C. it's just that the owners actually consider him a legitimate reporter and worry about what is said on the site. but take a look around a champ car race and count the national media from the USA. SPEED and espn.com.
Revealing, in a rather unfortunate way.

Pretty much what I thought:
Kevin A., Willoughby, OH: On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the most) how surprised/shocked were you by the PHX cancellation?
:
a 1. I heard weeks ago it was in jeopardy and nobody in phoenix was supporting it either.

As everyone said, a Dec. race was an awful idea, and the "track" was awful. In some sense, good riddance.

It's a lot like Ansan was - a race that nobody would really miss, but a strong indication that management doesn't know WTF they're doing.

Stan, Dover, DE: Who do you think Kalkhoven will blame for the cancellation of Phoenix? NASCAR, Tony George or city of Phoenix?
:
all of the above, plus Katherine Legge, the Ozone and Wall Street.
