After 5 weeks of research on bike, finally settled on this '08 Specialized Hardrock XC Disc. The Bike itself, was $405 on sale, with everything else I am buying for it/me, I will spend about $600 total.
Will take a photo tomorrow of it.
Been wanting to get back into riding for 10 years, but just never found the time (or tried to find the time), to get another bike. After test riding several bikes, was looking forward to getting one ASAP. Hundred of miles of bike trails, back-country roads, and bike paths down here in Southern Oregon to take advantage of.
Here is photo of the exact bike I bought on the Specialized website.

Looks pretty nice! Specialized makes good bikes, you'll be happy with it I'm sure.
I have two bikes, a Gary Fisher Utopia (hybrid) and a Trek 1200 road bike:

(except I replaced the front fork after ramming it and my head into a truck!):

Nice!
despite being a fullie it still climbs like a billygoat. that was me at Walker Ranch my first time out with it, one great ****ing day, 7K of vert :) still need to trim the bars, but the fox float's been solid, and the reba sl up front super adjustable for any terrain
you made a solid choice on your ride, good frame and components, go to a local bike shop and get it fitted for your body geometery, makes all the difference in the world, if it's a poor fit you'll start having pains that you shouldn't be having after a long ride

We are doing the fit tomorrow, but the (2) 20 minute test rides have gone great, and they are making the adjustments for me tomorrow morning. Of course, I will go back in, in about a month, for them to tune the bike up again since cables will change a bit.
I found a KICK-ASS new site to map your rides using GoogleMaps/Earth
http://veloroutes.org/
The route I am gonna ride tomorrow is here
http://veloroutes.org/bikemaps/?route=4024
Save your route as a .kml file, and click it and it will open in Google Earth and look like this

I assume you're riding XC because of A) the bike and B) I'd pay big money to see your ass fly down a mountain freeriding . Be sure to take a cam w/ you, and wrap it up in a beach towl and stuff it in your camelbak so it doesn't shatter when you go endo :)

I am not freeriding down any mountain anytime soon. :gomer:
Lots of trails I intend to ride that need the capability though.

Shot of bike from the other day after I put 35 miles on it in 3 days.

Yesterday, I bought the mount for the front rims, to hold the bike up in the back of the truck. I dont have the length to put it in straight because of the tool box, so we have it in diagonally. After drilling holes, putting in screws, and tightening it up, we added an eye-hook next to bike, that we had to drill for.
I use that, so when truck is in the back, I can wrap the cable lock through the eye-hook, and at least have more security. Before we were done, we welded the eye-hook where it went through the truck bed, and underneath the truck.
At least I can walk in the store few a half hour and know my bike will be there when I get back.

wrist all done healing?
Its still a little sore from time to time, but its doing great.
I dont have the range of motion like I had pre-fall, but there is no pain when I reach that threshold, just cant move it any further.
Thing that REALLY helped, is since the day I had my cast off, I have done my wrist exercises like prescribed every single day like I was told. I think that has made a significant difference in how fast I am getting back to a normal day.
