So this amateur inventor, who has the cancer researchers excited one of his inventions that may kill cancer cells with radio waves, now claims that in that research he his machine can burn saltwater and has the chemistry field all a buzz.

I'm going to send him a letter and ask that the starts work on invisiblilty and teleportation. Oh, and light sabers.

Internet commentary upon Kanzius and Roy's assertion points out that creating fire from salt water is possible by first separating it into hydrogen, oxygen, sodium and chloride, then burning the sodium. However, such a process would consume much more energy than it produces.

Yup. It still might be useful if it can generate radiowaves from an energy source that is otherwise hard to use or get into a vehicle.

Former TV exec Kanzius sez he's waiting for the patent for his process before revealing all the details. Unfortunately for him, a patent's already been granted for the technique of liberating hydrogen from saltwater with RF. Coincidentally (or not), he ran into precisely the same problem when he tried to patent his RF cancer therapy. Next up: AM Radio!

As if that wasn't enough, he's hooked up with Rustum Roy, who's a big proponent of homeopathy- y'know, he argues that water retains a memory of stuff that used to be in it, even if none of the stuff kinda sorta technically exists in the sample at the moment. :rofl:
