I was thinking of BBQ'ing the turkey... anyone ever done that before?
Instructions I heard on radio:
- Prepare turkey as usual (no stuffing though, do that in oven)
- Put a cookie sheet or equivalent under the grill part of the BBQ
- Use indirect heat... start with super high heat to seal everything, then turn it down and let it roast just like in the oven.
Supposedly it's awesome, and the BBQ acts almost like a convection oven so it's quite quick.
They also suggested wood chips. :) I'm all over that.

I'm spending it in the dirt. :)
What's the story behind Canadian Thanksgiving?

A big bird in a big kettle with lots of soaked wood chips over the charcoal for a good smoky flavor can be a wonderful thing. I'd suggest my favorite dressing -- sautéed diced onion with oat flakes. Enjoy. :)

Smoked turkey is awesome. Soak chips/chunks in water (I like apple & pecan wood), throw them on your coals or whatever. Forget what temp you're supposed to aim for, but you're right about the indirect/convection aspect...
Wife is from Canuckia. She made a nice turkey in the crock pot today. Might try it for our Thanksgiving next month. Worked great for just the three of us.
What kind of knives you all using to carve the bird?:p
Happy turkey day, Canucknuckles! Right idea, having it before the snow falls.
