Since it's that time of year, it would be nice to get ideas for some unique sites to webshop on.

I like www.thinkgeek.com and www.rarebirdfinds.typepad.com

Any other suggestions? :)

www.campmor.com

Nice place. Their website is cool but I decided to drive 2 hours to go to the showroom. Awesome place. Pretty much every tent they sell is set up. Plunked down $700 for gear. Much better place in person. Never going back tho. Driving in Jersey is a nightmare.

My favs (that can be posted on this site...)

www.demon-tweeks.com
www.newegg.com
www.lowes.com NOT!

that i would really like to see.

fyi: SAC has a woot-off'ish thing today, 100 items and they seem to be discounted further than usual. 70-75%'ish and it's mostly been women's gear so far

Second that.

I think I've given up going to the typical EMS crap store (30 years ago they were good, but REI was better), but Campmor is well worth the trip if you want to actually touch and see equipment. Another plus for them is the people who work there actually use the stuff in the store and give unbiased and informed advice.

But yes. Rt 17 in Paramus is surpassed by only Rt 46 to the south as the most suck ass road in the state. I really really want to go to that part of the state.

If you want to see a monster camping store go to a Cabela's

Cabela's Lehi, Utah Retail Store is located just south of Salt Lake City off I-15. In addition to offering quality outdoor merchandise, the 150,000 sq. ft. showroom is an educational and entertainment attractions, featuring a décor of museum-quality animal displays, huge aquariums and trophy animals interacting in realistic re-creations of their natural habitats.

Cabela's is huge. I've been to the one near Reading. Great as a themepark for hunting and fishing types. There is a gun room with more than 100 stuffed bucks in it. And an aquarium with thousands of fish. There are dozens of stuff lions, elephants, bear, goats, and such

But the quality and assortment of camping gear is just a step up from Walmart IMO.

But if you are a backpacker or want really good quality gear that is well designed and won't fail you are your weakest moment, go to Campmor

Right now, pay with PayPal at either one and get 20% cash back. Other stores, too.

Actually I don't spend money at Cabela's or Campmor. I do the whole locally owned outdoor gear stores that has been around forever thing.
The stores are called Kirkhams and Wasatch Touring.

That's when I saw it. :gomer:

Toys R' Us is gone, too. They must have gotten soaked on those two.

Several other vendors have dropped from the original list. They prolly met some pre-determined target and the deal on those sites expired. Early brid gets the worm, yo. :gomer:

A while back, some of you posted the best online places to buy tech gear. I suck at the search thing.

Any ideas?

(I'm looking for a cheap flatbed scanner - it doesn't need to do much more than scan/copy, ie., faxing, printing, etc. already covered well. Of course, I want 8 billion DPI resolution for, say, 12 bucks.:gomer: )

I've bought a few things from tigerdirect and had good service from them. I tend to not necessarily buy from whoever is cheapest. I value good service as well.

Tiger, Newegg, CompuPlus, and Amazon are all good. I also use Techbargains.com for deals and price searches (via Pricegrabber). They also have merchant and product ratings from users.

I value a good return policy, and one that doesn't require me to pay for shipping (even if it is reimbursed later) when it's not my fault.
