Weird Hockey Accident

Yes, Clint Malarchuck, goalie for Buffalo was clipped in the neck following a goal crease collision. He also survived, though barely. It was horrific.

Its incredibly creepy to be watching a hockey game and have the arena be so silent that the only sound you heard was the Zamboni scraping the ice. Zednik helped himself by skating to the bench, instead of remaining in the corner, down on the ice. The hospital he was taken to is a 2-minute run down the street the arena is located on; another thing working in his favor.

Interestingly enough, the Sabres team doctor that helped treat Zednik was the same doctor that helped save Malarchuk in '89. Coach Ruff was on that team with Malarchuk, and Ruff was turning white as a ghost while the whole thing was happening. And I really would not have blamed one player on either team if they had gone out last night and gotten plastered, if it would help erase the images from their memory.

I did like the standing ovation from the crowd when it was announced he was stable and on the way to the hospital.
