View Full Version : NASCAR 2008 Daytona 500 & Camping World 300
Looks like Jacques is out of a ride for now. Too bad, I enjoyed listening to his radio communications.
http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/headlines/cup/02/16/jvilleneuve.mskinner.jbenson.27.car/index.html
A.J. Foyt was just interviewed during practice and he was asked about how it felt to be there as a former winner of the race and if he was hanging out with the other winners. He said he's kind of an outsider there and pretty much just comes to see Tony Stewart.
Live leaderboard is free all weekend.
Tony Stewart talking about soiling himself. lol
Camera just caught a guy doing some interesting water sports. Fortunately his brains are still encased in his head.
Practice is over.
Next up - 12 NOON ET ESPN2 Camping WOrld 300

Brain France in the booth for an interview. Damn, I hope I don't hurt myself rushing to the TV to turn that on :D
How much of today's race are you going to watch before you declare that NASCAR sucks? How much of tomorrow's race? You really should stop torturing yourself. lol
It doesn't even look like A.J. attempted the Nationwide race, yet Brian Vickers will be starting. I find that odd.
Nice flyover.

Sorry, forgot about the Asian thing. Nobody cares that a TOyota is in the field. It's all about the drivers and teams.

Dale Sr. was right, get rid of the plates and build higher walls. This foot to the floor crap looks like synchronized swimming. :gomer:

It depends on if they are fans of Tony Stewart or Denny Hamlin I suppose. I'm sure there are a few more Kyle Busch fans out there too.

I wish I hadn't been.
I heard it was great. I hope I can get a copy of it. That Ella is a sweety. She looks just like her daddy. :)
Two things I notice:
1) God, I hate country music.
2) They are trying too hard to sell it. Even with all of NASCAR's domination of the market, there is still a scent of inferiority complex to their broadcast. I am not sure if the Indianapolis 500 Broadcasts are like that, but I doubt it. Indy is running on empty, but it is still the most prestigious American race.

If you hate NASCAR yet watch it anyway, you will be watching crapwagons.

Can't these guys keep it off the wall? Are they getting tired or what? Seemed to be ok for the first part of the race and now they look like L.A. drivers in the rain.
Anyway, this is the first stock car race I've wat ched in over a year, I kinda like it. Also the first race in Hi Def, pretty amazing picture, especially under the lights.

All those late race yellows spoil the eggcitment. How about a rule change. During the last 30 laps, no yellows. Just leave the parts and smoldering heaps where they come to rest and keep on racin'

And there you have it.

Jayski has the overnights http://www.jayski.com/pages/tvratings2008.htm
The 50th Daytona 500 earned a 10.2/20 household rating/share and averaged 17.8 million viewers, and both the rating and average audience are +1% better than a year ago (10.1/20, 17.5 million)...The Daytona 500 remains far and away the top-rated event in American motorsports. Yesterday's race more than doubled the rating of last year's Indianapolis 500 (+137% vs. 4.3/12).
