Plus, some of the Champ Car World Series drivers never have raced an open-wheel car on an oval, so plenty of time would have to be set aside for them to learn how to drive a new car on a type of track on which they have no experience. Paul Dana suffered fatal injuries when he crashed at Homestead during the 2006 IRL season opener. Some believe his inexperience played a role.
True, not many of the Champ Car guys have raced on an oval. But they have years of racing experience. Dana was in way over his head from the beginning and nobody had the sense to tell him as long as his checks kept clearing the bank. To compare him to these guys is quite a stretch.
Granted, a lot of it will depend on which CC drivers end up with rides. Hopefully the musical chairs will end and guys like Servia, Junqueira, etc. will be the ones who end up with rides - guys with plenty of experience and talent.
