View Full Version : Please say a last goodbye to one of our members: a fine man and a great fan.

In addition to other posters we've said goodbye to over the years (Fourrunner, Railbird, Speedbump and others), I got word last night that another long time racing fan and friend is now walking ahead of us on this journey. His screen name was Tall1. He posted here a few times, until his illness began to take hold. His real name was Bill Marsh. He was one of the people who welcomed me to the MSNBC racing forums over ten years ago, and told me about 7th Gear. It was there that I got to know many of you. It just seems cruelly ironic that the series that we both loved died in the same period as Bill passed on.
Bill put up a valiant fight against cancer, and other health issues over the past few years. But he didn't lose any fights. In my opinion, he just decided it was time to walk ahead... to a more peaceful place.

I'm sure that it would mean a lot to Bill's wife and family for his online friends and fellow racing fans to say one last goodbye.

I remember Tall1 from the 7G days. So sorry to hear of his passing.
It's a small world, indeed. Bill is from Chillicothe, the town Richard and I both grew up in.
RIP Bill. :(
Tall1 posted rarely, however when he did it meant something.
Godspeed. :(
I didn't know him, but give condolences to his friends and familiy. :(

Small world - Hillsboro native here. Growing up, Chillicothe & Wilmington were big cities to us.
Condolences, Jag.

I remember Tall1 as well. How long ago those days seem now. May he have peace.
edit: Jag, I did sign the guest book also. After watching my mom go through this when my dad died, I know that every word of condolence is important. It doesn't matter if you don't know the person writing. All that matters is that they wrote.
I remember him, too, from 7G. Condolences, Jag_Warrior. :(

This is very true. You want to know that your loved one is remembered outside the family too. That was a nice thing to do, TravelGal.
Thanks for letting us know.

I saw that you did. And I'm sure that it will mean a lot to his family. It certainly meant a lot to me. I guess my signing will post tomorrow after they open. Those were the hardest words that I have written since we laid my father to rest a few months ago. Writing that brought back feelings that I haven't completely come to grips with just yet.
