A counterfeit drug, DVD or sneaker is bought and sold with the expectation it is real. But could a Ferrari built in a back room with a Subaru engine actually be passed off as a vintage Ferrari?

I think not.

And it might actually be cool to own. Like a replica AC Cobra.

But I guess if they don't pay the necessary royalties to Ferrari, then it is illegal.
