Homestead Quallies

It was on TV.
The economy.
The price of gas.
Terrorism.
Too close to Cuba.
The internet.
Its an election year.
Fear of skin cancer.
Fear of dancing Brazilians.
Still trying to figure out how to vote.
The Oscars.
All you can eat night at Snappers Restaurant.
Too many tourists.
Too many locals.

Don't forget boring.
Although I haven't decided about the Indyish 4 laps of qualifying deal.

I see at least 10 people in the stands in that photograph.
This is a photo from last years' qualifying at Homestead.

I don't see a single person in the stands.
Conclusion?
At least 10 times as many people in attendance for this years' qualifying.
A huge increase. It must be the beginning of a new era.
:D
Doesn't it get really hot down in Florida?

- The Florida Panthers are making a playoff push.
- Dan Wheldon got married, so that's one less driver for the ladies to watch for.
- NASA's got a better flying object display.

You couldn't decide if a 43 car big one at 'dega was worth the ticket price.

No at 'dega I couldn't figure out why people were so stupid to stand lap after lap after lap... hello... that's how the whole race is. You had to freakin stand, because they wouldn't sit down.

Standing for a football game?? Heck, people here rarely leave their seats for the cheerleaders. :D I s'pose because we're often huddled under blankets trying to stay warm...

well there's that, and then there's the fact that you guys don't really play football :gomer:

Hmmm. Wouldn't need the blanket to keep you warm with them around.
Might want keep it around for "other" reasons...

Where exactly would the fans be in that photo anyway?that's the point. first off, you need some fans.

No, you're missing my point. Those don't look like spectator access areas. It would be like posting a picture of the far end of Burke and asking where the fans are.
SurfaceUnits

At Burke, you could show the questioner where the fans are. At lonely St. Pete, you could show the questioner where the 5 grandstands they've removed used to be.

Burke had 11 stands prior to 2002, and 6 from 2003 on. Same difference.

We found out today that 30,000 (or was it 35,000?) people at an F1 race is a sell out. :)

no crapwagons at Burke. big difference
0.4 rating according to USAToday.
:irked:
The shadows are pretty long in both the Homestead and St. Pete photos. So they were either taken early a.m. or late p.m., when crowds are smallest.
Not sayin' the crowds weren't small. Just sayin' that the pics probably aren't the best ones for making your point.
