I always admired him because he chose to speak his mind intelligently about issues in the community and the world. I rarely agreed with him but was pleased to see him as a frequent contributor to the letters to editor in the LA Times.

Sad to hear. Mom and dad took us to the drive-in for all the "Apes" movies and "Ben Hur" and "The Ten Commandments" were holiday traditions.

They definitely broke the mold after making Heston. He only had a bit part in "Tombstone" and "Any Given Sunday" but I felt that he still had "it".

I watched Ben Hur recently. Amazing Film, the Chariot scene is as good as an scene in film history.
