Cripes Jack Arute needs a shave.
For the record I'm watching Sportscenter and not the race.
For some reason I was watching it / snoozing on the couch
When she passed for the lead I started swearing so much I
scared the dog.
A shame it happened on the same weekend we say goodbye to CART/Champ Car.
 x 11
For the record, I finished watching Juno, watching pucks a flipped to E$PN for s&gs.

Never thought she would win...
Just kinda... two good results in two weeks of racing. Dumbfounding.

Pretty funny, the trophy presentation was the best. Danica got this huge trophy that looked like a knock off of the INDY500 Bling and Helio and Scott got these teeny little cups you could see Helio complaining about how big the winners trophy was and 2nd place is a teeny shot glass hahahaha love it that was classic!
That is so nice......(good for her)
But she may never win again....
Because we have such a WONDERFUL amount of OpenWheel racers Hence Forth
I was watching UFC at a bar and they had the IRL race as well. What happened, everyone had to pit but her? At least it wasn't Carpenter who won. That would really have sucked!

I was watching UFC at a bar and they had the IRL race as well. What happened, everyone had to pit but her? Autosport says it was a fuel gamble that paid off. Since the EARL always throws a bunch of yellows it was inevitable that her team would eventually get the fuel strategy right on an oval. No idea how many starts she has, but it must be close to 100 by now.

Fluke.
I started watching the live stream, but couldn't take the constant banner running across the screen. Do I really need to be told every 5 seconds who's running where? Or do they think I'll forget their names.
Besides the V8's were on.

Well they even had her win on the top of the hour news on National Public Radio.
This shouldn't be a spoiler. It's not like anyone here was planning on watching. I say "spoil" away and put the results in the thread title.

Saw she won on ESPN.com this morning. She had the side box. It said 50 races. I guess the move to AGR finally paid off. And without the weight advantage as well. Was she the only one on that fuel strategy?

Next will be an endless barrage of commercials by her various sponsors showing her cross the finish line and then the the podium ceremony. They will run them more than all Geico commercials combined. Brace yourselves. This is the biggest thing since Dimaggio's hitting streak, Lindberg's landing in Paris and the end of WW2. At least she gave up the pouty attitude for a few minutes. :yuck: :gomer:

The IRL was spoilt from the start. There is no way you can "spoil" their races anymore than they already are before they start.:tony: :gomer:

Not having to see/hear that jack ass on TV was the only good thing about CART losing the TV money. I don't know how all the OSU fans here can even watch a game when he is a sideline reporter. :)

Did they spend the entire trophy budget on the winners trophy? Helio's second place trophy looks like something you give out on "everyone gets a trophy" day.

It occurred to me that since the Japanese drivers clearly have no chance of winning a race, they gave it to someone who the Japanese fans may reasonably assume looks like a small Japanese person.
With less plastic surgery than Dave Weldon she could stay on the Honda payroll forever.

Good question. Either he was having fuel pickup problems in the turns or he was being told to slow down or he runs out of fuel. Danica blew by him like Goodyear went past the pace car in 1995.

Not quite cool down speed...
I would guess that since she was saving from the start, and he was just for 5 laps, he was nursing it to finish.
He finished about 5 seconds down, and Dixon who pitted finished 10 seconds down. Maybe he could have run at speed with her, but I doubt that he would have slowed down for her anymore than he would for Paul Tracy at Indy. Most drivers take their fuel orders from the pits, dial it in, and drive accordingly.
edit: per the Champ car race, Helio said his team didn't know he was racing her until it was too late...

OK, so I guess the call doesn't go to the winner, but to the person who needs to get out of the way. That also explains the 2002 Indy 500. Car #3 was being uncooperative. :D

That's what I heard too.
remember-
"In 2005, Legge competed in the Toyota Atlantic Championship. She won the series opener at Long Beach in her first career Toyota Atlantic start. In doing so, she became the first woman to win a major open-wheel race in North America. Legge went on to win her second and third races of the season at Edmonton and San Jose. She finished the season 3rd in the championship with three wins and five podiums. She also received the Toyota Atlantic BBS Rising Star 2005 Award."

Yeah, Team Penske had no idea they were letting Helio get passed by someone on the lead lap. Helio may've conveyed it wrong, but there's no way they didn't know that was for the lead.
