Englishman Alex Lloyd is expected to be released from Methodist Hospital this morning but won't participate in this weekend's qualifying for the 92nd Indianapolis 500, said Rahal Letterman spokeman Eric Mauk.
The rookie was going to be sent to his Indianapolis home, Mauk said, and a check-up would be scheduled with Indy Racing League medical director Dr. Michael Olinger. Mauk said the earliest Lloyd would get back into the car was Wednesday, pending Olinger's clearance.
The car wasn't a complete loss - the tub may be salvaged - but the rest of the bolt-on parts on the outside would need to be replaced.
