headphones, noise-cancelling

Anybody buy a set of noise-cancelling headphones?

I'm looking for a set. Nothing top-of-the-line, audiophile stuff, just a pair that can be used on airplanes, cutting grass, etc., so I don't have to crank the mp3 player up to 11 just to hear the latest emo angst. ;)

In ear noice cancelling headphones that work great... tried Sennheisers as well but they were the regular headphone type and if they came into contact with your seat the vibration is noisier than the regular cabin noise :(

With in ear headphones you get the earplug effect with noise cancellation :D

I'll check them out, but I don't do too well with in-the-ear plugs. They don't stay in place very well.

Too many other holes in the head or something.

I need a pair of oaf-canceling headphones, I'm becoming quite the curmudgeon in my old age. i hate the way that classical music is mixed at a low(ish) level that its impossible to listen to when someone is talking nearby.

I have a set of Senn PX 200 I bought a few years ago. They worked really well on my trip to India last summer. In fact, I wish I had them on a trip to Dulles this week, but I had forgot them. I used ear bud phones instead and couldn't hardly hear the tunes. These are compact, so they won't touch the seat and vibrate as was suggested in another comment. IIRC, they are considered passive and did a good job of noise out and music in. Their active brothers are the PXC series. The Senn's I had on the Luftansa :thumbup: :thumbup: flights were whole ear and did an awesome job.
