View Full Version : dog knocked wine all over the laptop
it shorted out a few second later... is the thing f'ed? should i rinse it w/ distilled w/o batt & hd? or maybe gank some de-ionized from the university... :D
When you say "it shorted out" exactly what does that mean? If you let the smoke out then it's probably not going to be just a clean-up job.

sounds like its fluxed. the capacitors need to contain the smoke otherwise they wont work :tony:.
no smoke or anything, seemed to just shut off in the same way as if the battery ran out

You probably will want to use the "University" water but try to get any and all liquid soaked up with towels before it has time to dry.
Yes, towel it off and lay it so as much of the liquid as possible can run out - probably keyboard down.
If it went in through the keyboard the keyboard is probably toast. If you're lucky that's replaceable.
I hope it was good wine. :\
WTF? Drinking wine? Going all metro on us?
Nancy boy...

My old roommate and I bought Franzi once. It tasted like Vodka Grape Juice.
A wine industry friend told me that they take pre-mature grapes off the wine, mash them and ADD alcohol to the mix. It is not fermented grapes.
I guess it is good for getting trashed.

Put the puter in the oven on low to dry it out. Euthanize the f'n dog. BUy some beer and pour the wine down the sink. You'll be fine.

Thats either an expensive dog, or expensive bottle of wine, depending on how you look at it.
laptop was 4 yo old. serviceable, but serviceable like Gretzky in NYR sweater serviceable.
what online sites to check out other than newegg or tigerdirect? I ended up w/ the HP last time b/c of LMT's sweet discount, but no more LMT so no more sweet discount.
