It's going to be a long 3-4 years for WVU football. I already hated the 3-3-5 gimmick defense for years. Now the spread offense isn't doing so well despite having the entire O-Line, QB and RB still there. They aren't likely to get better talent at QB/RB than they have now. Their only hope for this year is an upset of Auburn (yeah right).
So in summary:
WVU gives first time head coach a 6 year contract after first thinking he's the man after a BCS win and then destroying Villanova by passing. Defense always sucked but masked by spread offense. Spread offense not doing so well (CU used a 7 or 8 man box the whole game and while they racked up the rush yards, they had 3yds/pass (5yds/completion). I'd feel a lot better if they ran a real defense (4-3) in the future, but right now, thanks Rich Rodriguez. Too stubborn to pass and it's now WVU futility time.

Ohhh my mistake, that wasn't a college team that beat the Patriots? The Patriots are coached by a defensive genius, right? A college scheme wouldn't confuse him, I'm sure of it. :gomer:

3-3-5 is gimmicky for a base D imo, requires a lot of discipline to play against the run, which is where WVU's getting stuck. the old offense is great if it's executed properly, at the CU game the play calling was pretty bad, completely reliant on the same couple of plays

They can't play the pass worth anything. It's zone but it's horrible. I'm almost positive they are tackling dummies dressed as players. You drive an 18-wheeler through those holes.

I thought they were trying to lose that game. Weren't running the play clock down, passing a lot. Then the fans were ready to run onto the field with 2:40 or so left in the game. Gatorade on the coach with over a minute left. Overall, I'm all for college ranking upheavel (you know, since my team is out of it ;)). Besides, now I can believe things like Unranked Oregon St. > USC >> OSU. So OSU really sucks. :p

Wisky band suspended for tonight's game:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3624729
The University of Wisconsin marching band has been suspended indefinitely while allegations of hazing, alcohol abuse and sexual misconduct are investigated.
The band won't play Saturday during a nationally televised football game between the No. 18 Badgers and No. 14 Ohio State at Camp Randall Stadium.
The university made the announcement at a hastily called news conference Friday night, saying the behavior is consistent with conduct that put the band on probation in 2006.

For anyone that's been to Camp Randall, that's a huge loss for them. Almost as big as if TBDBITL didn't play in The Shoe.

Meet 6-3, 280-pound Trevor Wikre. He's the starting right guard for Division II Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colo. He loves football like wolves love pork chops. He'd do anything for his team. Two weeks ago, he proved it.
During a practice, Wikre, of Berthoud, Colo., caught his pinky on a linebacker's jersey during a sweep play. When he looked down, he happened to notice his bone was sticking out of his skin.
"Just tape it up," he told the trainer. "We got practice to finish."
Instead, they sent him to the hospital, where doctors told him they'd need to insert pins and reconstruct the ligaments. It'd need at least four months to heal. He'd be done for the season.
"No way," Trevor said. "This is my senior year. We've got to make this work."
"We can't," the doctor said.
"We can," insisted Trevor. "We can cut it off."
Cut if off?

T. Boone's $165M gift to Okie Lite, which ballooned to $300M under mgmt by T. Boone in his BP Capital hedge fund, is now approaching $0.00 in value due to market conditions, this after Okie Lite has already spent $300M on stadium/facility upgrades.

If OU wins out (OSU @ Stillwater), it's a 3 way tie, 5th tiebreaker being BCS rankings, 50/50 between us and them. They'll have the bounce from the voters w/ the Tech win, we'll have the computers b/c of our W's, our OOC opponents' records, and the fact we didnt play a 1-9 1-AA team. We're above them now so it depends on how much of a bump they get out of the Tech & OSU wins and if we can ****stomp KU and aggy.
If OU wins then loses to OSU, Tech wins head to head tiebreaker and we need Mizzou to beat them in KC. Same if Tech wins out, need the Mizzou win.
