...anyone tried Budweiser Amber Ale? Shockingly good reviews on Beer Advocate. Berghoff discontinued my favorite ale  and replaced it with bottled urine, I'm searching for a new go to beer.

If you can get their stuff up that way, Three Floyds out of Chicagoland has an "American Mild Ale" called Pride & Joy that's incredible. Lots of folks seem to love Bell's Amber as well, though I don't get the hype.

Its OK, C+ - B- range.
Still doesn't compare to best Ale brewed in St. Louis -

Leine's Red is good, but it's a lager. And there are many fine micro brews, some of them come in cases for $13 :D Berghoff Red Ale was my favorite beer because it had the following attributes: very tasty, nice balance of caramel malt and hops, no yeasty/bready note, inexpensive ($10.50 a twelver), not so much alcohol you get loaded, not so many calories you get fat....it was the perfect beer and now it's gone

And yes Bud sucks. That's why I was shocked to see a decent review of their new ale, it's probably worth a try.

BTW nothing from Point is drinkable :yuck:

I would rather drink Miller than Bud anyday.

Ya, Capital, Sprecher, New Glarus, Water Street, Essers....there are a lot of them that are excellent. All are way more expensive than Berghoff too. I cannot drink Bud or Miller, they are both horrid.

Sounds like da kine. Sucks to lose a solid regular anything.

Ok, here's the plan; let's chip in and buy a microbrewery. I just happen to know of one that is just a few miles from my house. This place has been sitting empty with all of the brewing equipment still inside. the parking lot is over grown and it kills me every time I drive by as I watch this place deteriorate.

So we wash out the tanks and light the fires!! We'll give it a racing theme with brews with names only hardcore race fans would appreciate.

Who's in?

I tried it. Not bad it's no Yuengling or Fat Tire but for an A-B beer it is pretty good.

This one?

Berghoff Famous Red Ale (http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/berghoff-famous-red-ale/7021/)

Another Berghoff red:

Berghoff Red Bock Winter Ale (http://http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/berghoff-red-bock-winter-ale/65952/)

I thought ratebeer.com had a feature 'If you like this, then you may also enjoy...' but it appears I was mistaken. Page does list 'other American ales', but doesn't compare attributes right on the page...

I'd be a brewery madchen. Or, I guess 'Frau' would be more correct. :D

Berghoff Red Ale is the one that was replaced by Rock River Red Ale which sucks. Red Bock Winter Ale is excellent, but it's a seasonal.

After 30 years, I just realized lagers suck, and Ales rule.

I have not tried the A&B variety though.

This dunkel is currently my favourite beer:

Lobkowicz Baron (http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/lobkowicz-baron--12o/2249/)

http://www.ratebeer.com/beerimages/full_size/2249.jpg

Time for an LC run - only two bottles of Baron left, and no Guinness in sight...

Unibroue = tastee. Usually right about this time of year, they brew up a Trader Joe's-branded brew that's very nice and a couple bucks cheaper than their normal fare.

Even if AB started brewing decent beer (haven't checked the weather forecast for Hell, lately), I wouldn't buy it from them, as they would only use the profits to buy out and bury more microbreweries.

Screw 'em.

Reminds me, I've still got one more Bridgeport in the fridge - thanks for the reminder, Meth and Brats!

Ive been hooked recently on Deschutes Brewing "Inversion IPA"

Great taste, and a helluva punch from the alcohol

I think their Belgian White is non-horrible, considering the price. Plus their bottles are an honest 12 oz. unlike those Euro thieves. :D

I concur, Mikie. I'll drink Inversion over many others on the market, although I'm currently enjoying Widmer's Broken Halo IPA immensely (~$11 per 12 pack at BevMo).:thumbup:
