I miss Rock Over London. Still dig The Big Beat. It wasn't long after they went corporate and tightened their playlist that I got XM. I looked forward to their CD player screwing up so that Brehmer could play whatever he wanted, which didn't happen often enough. I wish WLUW had 50,000 watts.

xrt is something l look forward to whenever I am in Chitown. I had a job in the early 80s that for 2 months kept me in a car all day driving around Chicago. XRT was a real find.
Philly has it's own institution and you ca listen on the web http://xpn.org/
Always commercial free. I can listen all day.
xpn has been around forever and a lot of its staff came from another old progressive station that eventually was taken over by some crap corporate stuff.
These stations are true treasures these days.

You don't realize how special they are until you travel out of the area.
I spend more time with the iPod wired in now, but if you look at my playlists, they are loaded with stuff heard for the first time on XPN.

Amen. We'll never be able to thank the FCC properly for deregulation of the broadcast business, but I can think of some ways I'd like to try....:shakehead
